Recreate This Bright Card For Someone Sweet!

March 17, 2019

Hello! It’s Wanda today, sharing a bright, fun card that is perfect to give someone who has brightened your day in some way.

Check out my tutorial below for this sweet card below:

On a piece of 5″ x 7″ white Yupo paper, I worked up my background using Alcohol Ink (Ranger) and canned air. Put a drop of ink on your Yupo….

… and then use the canned air to move the ink. For this piece I was trying to blow straight down in the center of each drop of ink. Tip: If the ink doesn’t move how you want, just add another drop and blow again.

I continued this step until I was happy with my piece.

Then, I die cut Sweet (A Way With Words, Sweet Smiles Set) from adhesive-backed craft foam, placing the die on the adhesive side.

I cut a piece of hard plastic packaging, large enough to adhere the word to. Then I removed the adhesive liner from the foam and stuck the word to the plastic.

My initial plan was to use Alcohol Lift Ink and my “foam stamp” to lift and then stamp the word Sweet on my card; however, my Alcohol Lift Ink is hiding from me.

Plan B – I used Archival Ink in a light color to remove color from my alcohol ink background. I stamped Sweet with the Archival Ink, blotted where I stamped with a paper towel to remove excess moisture and then rubbed/buffed the area to bring out the lift. I repeated this all the way down my paper.

I decided to trim 1/8″ off the right side and top of my paper so that I could attach this to a 5″ x 7″ folded card base. These strips can be used on other projects, or on the inside of the card to give it a little extra pizzazz.

I added an edge around my panel using Gold Paint and Light Gold Silk Microfine Glitter. Working one edge of the panel at a time so the paint wouldn’t start to dry, I sponged on the paint and then added the glitter. The glitter sticks perfectly to the wet paint. Once the paint is dry you can remove the excess glitter.

You Are (A Way With Words, You Are Perfect Set) and Sweet were die cut from both white and yellow cardstock. They were layered together, white on the bottom and yellow on the top, offsetting each just a little bit.

Attach Clear Double Sided Adhesive to White Soft Finish Cardstock. Die Cut the detailed butterfly (A Way With Words, Butterfly Flourish Set), placing the die against the adhesive side.

Remove the adhesive from the die cut and add Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to the butterfly. Remove excess glitter and burnish with your fingertip.

Add fiber to the left side of the background panel, and then adhere panel to folded card. Attach die cuts as shown. The butterfly was glued on by just the body area so the wings can pop up, adding an extra 3D element.

Glitter Dot Stickers (Silver/Gold) were added to the butterfly body as well.

I hope you like today’s card!!!! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Hugs, Wanda

Wanda, your card is magnificent! I love the AI ‘flowers’ and lift technique (who needs that stinkin’ LIft Off, anyway!) you so perfectly executed! The gold glitter edges are an unexpected detail that adds so much and I love the glittery 3D butterfly. Excellent tutorial! Thank you for sharing! Hugs!
