Thinking of You Winter Card

October 5, 2017

Good Morning.  This is Selma Stevenson today with a Winter Scene card that can be used for any occasion during the winter months.  It is fun to use your imagination and create a scene using different dies and stencils.  Here is how the card was designed:

1.  Start with a 6-inch top- or side-fold card base.

2.  Use a piece of light blue cardstock cut to  5 1/2 inches square as the starting point for the mountain scene. Use Susan’s Mountain & Split Rail Stencil to add the mountains.  Using low-tack tape, secure the stencil to the left side of the blue cardstock and press VersaMark ink through stencil.  Move stencil over to the left and add one more mountain to create a mountain range.  Add white embossing powder; heat with heat tool.

3.  Using the Susan’s CountryScapes Mountains die set, cut two landscapes from White Soft Finish Cardstock.  Layer and adhere as shown.

4.  Using the Adventure Edges die set, cut the cloud border from White SFC. Add it at the bottom of the card in front of the hillsides.

5.  Using the Reindeer die set, cut one leaping reindeer.  Sponge on Distress inks to color.  Use a fine tip marker to add the small details: nose, eye, hooves.

6. There are trees in the Reindeer die set, but I chose to use the beautiful tree in the  Christmas Tree Die Set. Die cut the four pieces and trunk for the evergreen from White SFC. Sponge the trunk with brown. Sponge the foliage with green ink, leaving the bottom of each section white so it appears to be tipped with snow. Assemble the tree on the card front, starting with the trunk and working up toward the top, adding foam tape to add dimension to each layer.

7.  Dilute a small amount of Kids Choice Glue with a bit of water. Use a small brush to add the glue to the mountaintops and the white edges of each section of the tree. Sprinkle on Cool Diamond Silk Microfine glitter. Allow to dry. Brush off any remaining excess glitter, polish the glitter with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.

8. Add the reindeer to the right of the tree.

9. Using the die in the Reindeer die set, cut a lot of snowflakes from White SFC. Add glue and Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to the flakes. When dry, polish the glitter with a fingertip. Working one or two snowflakes at a time because the glue dries fast, use a toothpick or corsage pin to add a tiny dab of Kids Choice Glue to the back of each snowflake and adhere flakes above the mountains and elsewhere as desired.

10.  Stamp a sentiment at the lower right. Shown: Thinking of You from the General Sentiments clear stamp set.

This card will be perfect for any occasion during the winter months. Choose a holiday greeting or any other sentiment.

I’m sure your card is beautiful, but in my email there is no picture of it. Only the instructions, which makes the card difficult to visualize.
