It´s Sanna here, and it´s my turn to post a tutorial for the Die Cut Design Team. Today I decided to share with you a teen boy birthday card idea. My son recently celebrated his birthday and this is the card I made for him. It is fairly easy to make and by changing the colors you can easily create a card for a teen girl using the same idea.
Here is how I created the card:
Step 1: The materials you need are a card base, a piece of cardstock for die cutting, Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet, Words dies, spray inks and another piece of cardstock to work as a background piece for the card.
Step 2: Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock slightly smaller than the card base. Place that piece into spraying box and add both red and blue spray ink (or whatever colors you prefer!) to the cardstock. Dry with a heat tool. Adhere the long strip of Soft Finish Cardstock onto the Clear Double Sided Adhesive strip. Die cut the assorted words. (Tip: Use up the whole piece. Whatever is left over can be used on other projects.)
Step 3: Working one word at a time, remove the die cut words from the backing to expose the adhesive and adhere in a random manner onto the color-misted rectangle. Trim at the edges with scissors or a craft knife to remove the excess portions of the words. Adhere the word-filled rectangle to the card base.
Step 4: Cut a Stitched Circle from a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock piece. Add foam stickers to the circle. (As shown: #14 since it was my son’s 14th birthday.) For added dimension, use foam tape to adhere the circle onto the card base.
Step 5: Die cut the word ‘Birthday’ from thin, adhesive-backed black craft foam sheet. Tip: die cutting adhesive-backed craft foam lets you create your own DIY foam sentiments, words and alphas. Adhere the word underneath the circle. The card is done!
Above is one more card, created using the same idea. I just changed the background colors a little bit and used a Fishtail Banner for the sentiment instead of a circle. I hope you enjoyed this little step-by-step tutorial and get inspired to use word dies to create fun card backgrounds.
