You’re so cute!

August 28, 2021

Today I made this cute whale that I combined with the lovely papers from Modacrap. I love the paperpads. They are so cute and colorfull. And collerfull is what I love!

For this card I used a slimline die. This die is from the new Planner Essentials set 41 – Rounded Corners Page. At first take this part of the die and your basepaper. In this case I took the paper with the whales in blue and red. The frame is also from the same set. The frame I made only in the soft finish cardstock because the background is already so colorfull.

On the back of the frame you can make two squares in different colors. For these squares I used papers with a bit of a calmer print as I’m planning to add the whale on one squares and a text on the other.

Than I took some brown cardstock on the back of my base slimline. I added some jute twine between the background paper and my cardstock. I left the jute a bit longer than my background so it would stick out on both end. You can make the frame stick out on the right side as well for a playful effect.

And then comes my favorite part of the card! A cute die from the collection of Joset. This time I choose the whale. He is so cute and matches so pretty with the paper. The whale I collered with Distress Ink. I used weathered wood for his body, stormy sky for the water splashes and fired brick for the mouth of the whale. I adhered the whale to the left square.

On the right side I made the word whale with the letter dies blackboard alphabet. This is one of my favorite dies. You can combine it with so much dies on so many creations.

Finally I added some decoration. In the corner a steering wheel and lifebuoy. These are parts from the Whale and the Octopus sets. On the right side of the frame are two holes, here I added some jute twine. It mached with the colors of the card.

I had fun creating this card and hopefully I inspired you to make your own version!

Splish Splash

February 16, 2020

Winter blues got you down? Don’t worry, because the latest release from Joset will having you seeing sunny days and warm ocean hues!

Today I am playing around with the new Whale die set and and some watercolor to create this simple, yet summer fun card.

Step One: Die cut all the pieces from the Whale die set from some Watercolor Paper.

Step Two: Using either watercolors, or watercolor markers, color the die cut pieces.

Step Three: Using a waterbased ink you can blend, created a background of blue on a piece of 110lb Soft Finish Cardstock trimmed to 4.25×5.5. I used my distress oxides in both Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean.

Step Four: Using a stencil, created some texture on the background using a darker blue ink. I used Faded Jeans Distress Oxide through this circular stencil.

Step Five: Using both 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive and Kids Choice Glue, add the die cut image to the background.

Step Six: Using the new Splish Splash Sentiments stamp set, add a sentiment. I used two different sentiments in blue ink. I used Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide.

Step Seven: Add the inked background to an A2 card frame using some 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step Eight: Spritz the background with some water to add some texture to the card, and add some extra inking around the edges to help ground the image.

Step Nine: Add some Transparent Crystal Craft Drops around the sentiment for a little extra bling.

I hope this card helps chase away your cold winter blues. Spring is just around the corner, but until then, your ocean hues are only a click away.
