Cardmaking Inspiration from the Design Team Joset Designs

Just the Way You Are

April 8, 2021

Hey everyone! It’s EK and today I am popping in to share a little card I made using Joset’s Elephant and Hats die set. I thought it might be fun today to see if I could push the elephant into a slightly more whimsical position, and let him join in on the unicorn craze!

Step One: Using 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock, die cut both the Unicorn hat from the Hats die set and all the Elephant die set pieces including the legs a second time.

Step Two: Using alcohol markers, color the die cut pieces. I used copics.

Step Three: Using a liquid adhesive, assemble the elephant, tucking the second set of arms under his chin. I used Kids Choice Glue.

Step Four: On an A2 card frame, blend some blue ink. I used Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass. Splatter the card frame with some liquid shimmer.

Step Five: Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the elephant to the card frame. Using liquid adhesive, adhere the water spray.

Step Six: Using the Safari Sayings stamp set, add a sentiment using dark blue ink.

Step Seven: Finally, adhere the copic colored hearts to the card, letting three of them surround the water spray, and one accenting the sentiment.

I just love how the Elephant turned out. I know he was intended to be on all fours, but I love the look of him standing with the extra set of legs.

Let us know in the comments below which of Joset’s animal die cuts is your favorite. Until then, happy crafting!

Go Wild!

March 28, 2021

Welcome! Samantha here sharing a rainbow of a card! This zebra was too cute to just be ordinary…so I dressed him up in bright colours to match my rainbow background!

Card Instructions:

Step 1: Cut strips of coloured card stock, slightly wider the an A6 sized card front, approximately 1cm thick. (Card Measurement: 10.5cm x 14.5cm)

Step 2: Use the decorative edges die and die cut each strip as shown below. Adhere these to the white card front and trim off the excess card overlapping the sides.

(Optional: Add machine stitched details).

Step 3: Die cut the zebra using white card stock. Before adhering the zebra stripes use coloured markers and colour each stripe in.

Adhere these to the zebras body. Die cut the hair and tail using black card stock. Assemble the zebra onto the card front.

Step 4: Stamp the sentiment directly onto the card front using black ink.

Step 5: Adhere googly eyes to the zebra (alternatively use the die cut eyes available in this set), embellish the card with sequins and a twine bow. Adhere the A6 card front to an A6 card base.

Thanks for stopping by to read my card tutorial. Such a fun, bright card to make! Give it a go!

Happy Crafting!

Sunset Scene Card

January 8, 2020

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. Before I start I want to wish you all a Happy New Year. All the best for a healthy, prosperous and crafty year ahead.

One of my favourite dies last year was the Village Edges. I showcased it to create a Holiday Scene, but today I want to show you how versatile it is for any occasion. Below are the steps to create your own Sunset Scene card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, score at 4 1/4” and fold in half for a horizontal side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”. Apply Distress Oxide Inks using a foam applicator. Starting from the bottom working upwards apply Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon, Fired Brick and Dusty Concord. Adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 3 – Diecut Village Edges using Black Cardstock. Adhere the bottom layer using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive leaving a 1/4” border. Do not adhere the top layer yet.

Step 4 – Diecut Words 2 – Thinking Of You 3 times using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere Kids Choice Glue and stack up the Diecuts. Apply Distress Oxide Ripe Persimmon Completely over the top layer, apply Fired Brick just to the top edge. Sprinkle Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it with a Heat Tool. Repeat this 2 more times but ink with Versamark. Adhere the sentiment using Kids Choice Glue to top layer of the Village Edges.

Step 5 – Here I did some stamp surgery to get the exact Sentiment. Stamp Safari Saying “Have A” using Versamark. In another sentiment I stamped just the “N”. Next stamp “Birthday” again using Versamark. Sprinkle White Embossing Powder and heat set it with a Heat Tool. Adhere the top layer Village Edges to the card using Foam Tape.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the Village Edges used in another occasion. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Forest Scene Card Using The New Release

July 21, 2019

Hi everyone, it’s Tina here. Welcome back to another release from Joset Designs! That means additional character dies –– there are 5!!! A Reindeer, Fox, Raccoon, Owl and Winter Bird along with Forest Accessories that you will absolutely adore. There is also some fun dies for the Holiday season which I will show in upcoming posts.

For today’s card, I used the Winter Bird, Fox and Forest Accessories to create a Forest Scene. Below are the steps to create your own Forest Scene Card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2 size)

Step 2 – Diecut Adventure Edges (clouds die) with scrap cardstock to use as a stencil. Using any ink of your choice create the clouds directly on the card front by placing your stencil and ink at the edges. I used Distress Oxides Salty Ocean.

Step 3 – Apply ink to White Soft Finish Cardstock. I used Distress Inks Vintage photo and Walnut. Diecut Winter Bird with appropriate colors and assemble the pieces using Kid’s Choice Glue. Adhere the branch to the card using Kid’s Choice Glue and the bird using foam tape. (I made the bird into a robin to show you that it can be used for any kind of bird).

Step 4 – Apply Ink to White Soft Finish Cardstock. I used Distress Inks Vintage Photo, Barn Door and Citrus Green. Diecut Forest Accessories to appropriate colors and assemble and adhere to card using Kid’s Choice Glue.

Step 5 – Apply Ink to White Soft Finish Cardstock. I used Distress Oxide Peeled Paint. Diecut Tree (the grass die) and adhere to card using foam tape.

Step 6 – Apply ink to White Soft Finish Cardstock. I used Distress Inks Wild Honey for the main body. Diecut Fox with appropriate colors and assemble using Kid’s Choice Glue. Adhere to card using foam tape. (I omitted one leg to give the appearance it was lying on the tree stump).

Step 7 – Stamp Sarafi Saying using Versafine Onyx Black Ink to the bottom of the card. I used the Wild from one of the sentiments by masking the rest of the sentiment with Washi Tape. Ink the sentiment, remove the washi tape then stamp the image.

This card can be used for many occasions by changing the sentiment, colors and characters. Below are the links for all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Floating Monkey Card

May 8, 2019

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. Today I have a super fun card to share using the Monkey and Party Accessories dies from Joset Designs. I don’t normally make card sizes other than A2 or 6×6 but for this one I wanted lots of balloons to give the illusion of a floating monkey. The finished card measures 7 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ folded. Below you will find the easy steps to create your own floating monkey card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish 110lbs Cardstock to 7 1/4″ x 7 1/2″, score at 3 3/4″ and fold in half for a vertical side fold card.

Step 2 – Trim Rich Black Soft Finish Cardstock to 3 1/4″ x 6 3/4″. Adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 3 – Trim White Soft Finish to 3″ x 6 1/2″. Stamp Safari Sayings Sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. (I used washi tape to cover Go Bananas before inking the stamp. Be sure to remove the washi tape before stamping). Adhere to card with 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 4 – Using Life Changing Brushes apply Distress Oxide Inks on White Soft Finish Cardstock. (I used Scattered Straw and Walnut Stain).
Diecut Monkey using the correct colored cardstock for each piece. Assemble the Monkey using Fine Tweezers and Kids Choice Glue. Be sure to use a black fine tip marker to draw the mouth (just follow the embossed area).

Step 5 – Using Life Changing Brushes apply Distress Oxide Inks on scrap pieces of White Soft Finish Cardstock using various colors. Diecut Party Accessories (Balloon and String 8 times). Assemble the string behind the balloon using Kids Choice Glue. I layered all the balloons so it was one piece. Intertwine the string around the tail of the monkey. Adhere to card using Kids Choice Glue.

The Floating Monkey Card makes a fun birthday card that will anyone smile who receives it. Below is a link to all the products used. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

How To Make These Cute Birthday Tag Critters

March 12, 2019

Hey Friends. It’s EK Gorman here today sharing some tags I created using the some of the new critter dies sets.

One of my favorite things about the new critter dies from Joset is that they are so incredibly versatile. What was originally designed for some safari fun, can easily be turned into a bit of everyday birthday day labels. Today, I am taking a few of the new critter dies and turning them into the perfect tags to hang from birthday presents for both the old and young.

Step One: Die cut the piece from the Zebra die set and some 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Two: Color the zebra strip die cuts with some alcohol markers. I used N8 copics.

Step Three: Color the hair, tail and hooves with alcohol markers. I used N6, N8, and 100.

Step Four: Color the body, head, legs and ears with alcohol markers. I used N0, N2, and N4.

Step Five: Color the nose and ears with alcohol markers. I used R00, R20, and R22.

Step Six: Assemble the body of the Zebra using Kids Choice Glue.

Step Seven: Using Kids Choice glue, add the zebra stripes to the body. Tweezers help in the placing of these small parts. I used the ones from the 4pc all Metal tool set.

Step Eight: Repeat Steps one through seven, but using the Monkey die set and the Little Chick die set. The Monkey parts were colored with E21, E23, E25, E27 and E29. The Little Chick was colored with Y00, Y02, Y06 and Y08 plus YR15 and YR16.

Step Nine: Die cut balloons, party hats and fun party accessories from the Party Accessories die set. Color them with alcohol markers. I used RV00, RV02, RV04 and RV06 for the pink accessories, R05, R24, R29 and R89 for the red accessories, Y21, Y26 and Y28 for the gold crown, B12, B16 and B18 for the blue balloon, and N4, N6, and N8 for the black mustache. Adhere the accessories to the critters with Kids Choice Glue.

Step Ten: Trim a piece of Ladybug Red Soft Finish Cardstock, True Blue Soft Finish Cardstock and Spring Green Soft Finish Cardstock to 6×6 inches. Then die cut the top of the tag from the Tags & More Lattice die set. Trim off any excess paper.

Step Eleven: Add the lattice die cut effect to both the top and the bottom of the tags using the Tags & More Lattice dies.

Step Twelve: Add tag reinforcements from the tag die set to the top of the tags. I mixed and matched paper colors to add a bit of whimsy to the card.

Step Thirteen: Adhere the critters and party accessories to the tags. Stamp a sentiment onto each tag using the Safari Sayings sentiment stamp set. Finally, add some colorful ribbon to the top of each tag. I also added some glossy accents to the top of all they party accessories so that the accessories were shinny.

Thank you for peeking in today to my project today. I hope you think they are as much fun as I do. Make sure to share how you are playing with the collection of new critter dies over on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Family Page.

Until then, happy crafting!

How To Create A Cute Gift Tag

March 3, 2019

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you how to create a cute gift tag that’s perfect to add to any gift or gift bag!

To create this gift tag, I’ve used the brand new dies from Joset Designs as well as dies from Els van de Burgt Studio and ModaScrap. I hope that you enjoy my tutorial!

Step 1. Cut a piece of White Cardstock to 2 3/4″ x 4 1/2″. From the Tags 9 & More – Sparkle die, place the round tag topper with hole cut out at the top of the cardstock tag. Run through die cutting machine. From a scrap piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock, die cut the reinforcement circle. Adhere the reinforcement circle overtop of the hole on the tag. Sprinkle Jade Magenta Nuance over the left hand side of the tag. Spritz with water. Ink the edges of the tag using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam. Set tag aside to dry.

Step 2. From the Party Accessories die, die cut the balloon elements and one of the party hat elements out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Lucky Clover Distress Ink over the entire surface of the balloon and solid hat. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink over the entire surface of the balloon string and top of the party hat. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink over the entire surface of the dotted party hat.

Step 3. From the Monkey die, die cut all of the elements out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Ground Expresso Distress Ink over the entire surface of the monkey head, tail, body, arms and legs. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Tea Dye Distress Ink over the entire surface of the monkey ears, face, hands and feet. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Black Soot Distress Ink over the entire surface of the eyes. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink over the entire surface of the banana.

Step 4. Die cut the 1 1/8″ Stitched Fishtail Banner out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Cut the banner down to 3″. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the birthday sentiment from the Safari Sayings and stamp onto the banner. Ink the edges of the banner using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step 5. Adhere the monkey together. Add the mouth in by drawing it in with a black pen.

Step 6. Adhere the banana underneath the monkey’s right hand. Adhere the ballon together and then adhere it to the left hand. Adhere the party hat together and adhere it on an angle on the monkey’s head.

Step 7. Foam square the birthday sentiment 1/2″ from the bottom of the tag. Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the monkey to the left of the birthday sentiment.

Step 8. To finish off the gift tag, tie some twine through the top of the hole on the tag.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my cute gift tag.

Katelyn

DIY Safari Animal Gift Box

February 17, 2019

Hi friends, it’s Sandy Diller with you today and I have a fun project to share.

First of all, I must tell you that this is not my original idea –– I saw it on Mixed Up Crafts with Samantha. She made her box from scratch and decorated it with a fairy. I decided to up-cycle a box from my stash and am so pleased with the way it turned out!

Here are a few photos of the box that any child (or adult) would enjoy receiving. Below, I have also provided a complete step by step video of the project as well as the links to all the Elizabeth Craft Designs products I used.

ENJOY!

These cute jungle animals are perfect to decorate the top of the box.
When the box is opened, the adorable Monkey pops up. He is attached to a piece of acetate that folds down as the box closes.
The Safari Sayings Stamp Set is perfect for gift giving.

Watch the video tutorial below!

This is a fun and easy way to give a gift that is sure to be a hit! Hope you will give it a try.

See you soon,

Sandy
