Fairy Tale Table Decor

October 18, 2020

Hey Friends! It’s EK and last week I create a Halloween table display featuring a whole host of Joset’s dies. Well, I am at it again, not because I am trying to start a trend (even though I think it would be a really cool trend), but because my 10 year old has requested a table decoration for her room featuring a little bit of fairy tale magic. My kiddo’s favorite princess has always been Cinderella, and I realized that I really had all the necessary dies to recreate the story in a single display from different Joset collections.

Step One: Die cut from 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock the pieces from the Princess die set. Color the pieces with copic markers. Assemble the pieces using Kids Choice Glue.

Step Two: Die cut the bushes, tree stump and mushroom from the Forest Accessories die set and 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock. Color the die cuts with copic markers. Use Kids Choice Glue to assemble the pieces of the mushroom.

Step Three: Die cut the pumpkin pieces of the Pumpkin die set. Color this with copic markers and assemble.

Step Four: Die cut the mice from both the Scarecrow die set and the Forest Accessories die set. Color the mice.

Step Five: Die cut two grass strips and the clouds from the Tree die set. Color the die cuts.

Step Six: Using a 6x6x2 inch canvas, paint grass and a road onto the front and sides using acrylic paint. Let dry.

Step Seven: Die cut the pieces of the Castle Folding card out of 110lb Soft Finish Cardstock. Color the castle with copic markers and assemble. I glued the back of the card to castle to help add stability. Fill the window with Transparent Crystal Craft Drops. Hot glue the castle to the back of the canvas. Hot glue the clouds to the back of the castle allowing them to float out.

Step Eight: Trim the grasses to fit the width of the canvas leaving room for the road. Using hot glue adhere the scene to the canvas laying the different pieces.

I hope you get a kick seeing how I constructed this table top decoration. Yes it is a little fragile due to the different pieces being made of paper, but if you leave the decor simply sitting on a piece of furniture it is perfectly safe. There are so many different stories that we can tell using the different dies from Joset’s collections.

Let me know in the comments below what story you would want to see next. Until then, happy crafting.

  • cut out a tag from watercolor paper using the Butterfly Pocket Insert die set
  • add color using the Watercolor Palette
  • add some splatters with Finetec Mica Watercolor Moon White

Step 3: Assemble the Tag and Adding of the Sentiment

  • adhere the elements using glue and clear double-sided adhesive
  • cut out the word BOO using the letters from the Butterfly Pocket Insert die set
