Happy Birthday!

July 18, 2022

Hello all, Alice here. Today it’s my turn to show you another creation with the super cute monsters! I used the birthday flip card which is such a fun die. This set includes the Happy Birthday Sentiment and then I used Monster 1, 3 and the Party Time dies to decorate. Let’s get started!

On the front I used one of the cute monsters. He eats the letters of the text. He really is a naughty one. I die cut the monster from White Soft Finish Cardstock and colored him with blue Distress Ink. On the front I used brick paper. It is Crafters Consertium brand paper. I thought this fits perfectly with the card.

When you open the card, there is another monster hiding on the back. He’s having a party with streamers and cake. The garlands are made from the party set.

I really like how you can give the card two sides. It’s a fun surprise for the recipient.

I hope you like this card as much as I do and you wil get to work on it too!

Greetings Alice

Fun with Farm Dies

July 10, 2021

Karen here today! I’m excited to share a few cards I made with the “Life is Better on the Farm” collection of dies and stamps. I’d gone to a class at a craft event several years back where I was going to make a mini-album with all sorts of inked up backgrounds. I didn’t finish the project, but I recently found the pack of backgrounds and decided to have some fun with the farm animals and a few of the “accessory” die sets.

These were the three fun backgrounds that I decided to play with. I love how fun and colorful they are. Note that I used 90 lb Soft Finish Cardstock to create all my card bases and all my critters today. Love this cardstock!

With that gorgeous green background, I decided to use the very sweet Sheep die in shades of tan distress inks (Tea Dye, Antique Linen and Ground Espresso. (The cheeks have a teeny bit of Kitsch Flamingo.) I used a piece of ribbon, the Party Accessories Dies and Florals 5 Dies to jazz up this fun birthday card. The sentiment is from the Life is Better on the Farm Sentiment Stamps and is cut out with a Stitched Circles die, framed with a Fitted Circles die.

My “howdy” stamp is made with the REALLY sweet Donkey dies, colored with Kitsch Flamingo, Walnut Stain and Antique Linen Distress Inks. The hat is from the Hats set and is colored with Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed and a Y26 Copic marker. Eek, I love him! The sunflowers are colored with Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed and Walnut Stain Distress Inks and are in the Farm Accessories dies. Again, on this card, I used the Life is Better on the Farm Stamps.

And WHAT could be cuter than a farmer roasting a hot dog?! Of course, the fellow is cut with the Farmer die. His skin tones are Copics E000, E00, R21 and R4 (lips). The clothes are Faded Denim, Squeezed Lemonade, Black Soot, and Antique Linen. His grey hair is colored with Hickory Smoke. The hot dog, stick and fire can be found in the Camping Accessories. They are colored Vintage Photo, Crackling Campfire, Mustard Seed and an E11 Copic (hot dog). The Tree die was also used on this card (I just used a piece of it…) Again, the sentiment is from the Life is Better on the Farm Set.

That’s it for me today! Thanks so much for stopping by.

Craftily yours, Karen

Winter Birthday Card

January 18, 2021

Hi everyone, it’s Tina here. As I was pondering what my next card would be I realized I never made a winter birthday card for people who have birthday’s in the winter months. I thought it would be fun to combine the Polar Bear die with the Party Accessories dies to create a fun Winter themed Birthday card. Below you will find the steps to create your own card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 11″ x 4 1/4″, score a 5 1/2″ and fold in half for a horizontal top fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Trim Soft Blue Cardstock to 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. Place a snow stencil on top of the Cardstock and apply Texture Paste using a Palette Knife. Remove the excess and stencil. Let dry. (If you don’t have a snow stencil then add some White Acrylic paint onto an Acrylic Block. Spray some water and mix it. Then using a Watercolor Brush splash it onto the Cardstock. This will create a snowy background. Let dry.) Once dry adhere the panel to the card front using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 3 – Diecut Party Accessories (Balloon die) x 7 using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere them together using Kid’s Choice Glue. Turn it around and adhere several strings in color grey. Use Kid’s Choice Glue then reinforce it with Clear Tape. Adhere to card using Foam Tape.

Step 4 – Diecut Polar Bear using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Assemble using Kid’s Choice Glue. Diecut Party Accessories (party hat and trim dies) using Soft Blue Cardstock for the solid base and Silver Glitter Cardstock for the circles top piece and trim). Assemble and adhere the party hat to the Polar Bear’s head using Kid’s Choice Glue. Adhere it to the card front using Foam Tape making sure to adhere on top of the string ends to keep it secure.

Step 5 – Diecut Words 1 – Celebration using Soft Blue Cardstock x3 the words Happy and Birthday. Stack each layer using Kid’s Choice Glue and then adhere on top of the Balloons using Kid’s Choice Glue.

A birthday card does not always have to be about flowers, cakes and presents. Think of the season when that person’s birthday is in and create a card with that season. For instance a person’s birthday that lands in Fall you can create a Fall color scene background. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

Have A Magical Day Card

June 3, 2020

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. Lately I seem to be in a rainbow mode so I decided that my balloons would have a rainbow colour theme. I absolutely loved the results and loved all the burst of colours. Below you will find the steps to create your own rainbow of balloons card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, score at 4 1/4” and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 4 1/4” x 5 1/2”. Diecut The Cardstock with Stitched Rectangles and Frame It – Stitched Circles to create a window panel. If you don’t have the Frame It then use Fitted Circles. The only difference is that you won’t have a Stitched Circle along the frame.

Step 3 – Adhere any DIY background to the card front using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape. I used Alcohol Inks on Yupo Paper to create an ocean feel background.

Step 4 – Stamp Build Your Own Sentiments 1 using Versafine Onyx Black Ink to the center bottom of the panel created from Step 2. Adhere to card using Foam Tape.

Step 5 – Diecut Octopus and Party Accessories (Balloons x6, Balloon Strings And Party Hat) using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Colour in all the diecut pieces using Alcohol Markers. I used Spectrum Noir Classique Markers. Assemble all the pieces and adhere to card using Kids Choice Glue and Foam Tape. TIP: I placed all my assembled pieces loosely on my card front and when I was satisfied with the placement I used Glad Press’ N Seal to keep the placement. I adhered glue to the Balloons and Foam Tape to the Octopus on the back side then turned it around and placed back to the card front and removed the Glad Press’ N Seal.

This card can be used for several occasions by changing the colours and sentiment. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

Happy Birthday Parrot Card

July 14, 2019

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Happy Birthday Card which features the Parrot from Joset Design’s!

To create this card, I’ve used some new dies from Joset Designs, dies from Els van de Burgt Studio as well as patterned paper from ModaScrap. I hope you enjoy my tutorial!

Step One. Die cut the 3 1/4″ Stitched Square out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the edges of the square using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Two. Choose one of the orange polka dot patterns out of the Thinking About… Rio De Janeiro paper pack. Die cut the 3 3/4″ Stitched Square out of the patterned paper piece. Ink the edges of the square using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Three. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Build Your Own Sentiments 1 stamp set and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Cut the Happy Birthday into two strips. Ink the edges of the words using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Four. From the Party Accessories set, die cut the star glasses out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink over the entire surface of the glasses.

Step Five. From the Parrot die, die cut the body, wings, head and legs out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the entire surface of each piece using Lucky Clover Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Six. From the Parrot die, die cut the tummy, tail and feathers on top of the head out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the entire surface of each piece using Twisted Citron Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Seven. From the Parrot die, die cut the nose and feet out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. From the Party Accessories die, die cut the balloon out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the entire surface of each piece using Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Eight. From the Party Accessories die, die cut the string for the balloon out of black cardstock.

Step Nine. From the Parrot die, die cut the eyes out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Colour the eyes in with a black pen.

Step Ten. Adhere the 3 1/4″ Stitched Square to the 3 3/4″ Stitched Square.

Step Eleven. Adhere your parrot together.

Step Twelve. Foam square the parrot to the left side of the 3 1/4″ stitched square. Adhere the star glasses over top of the parrots eyes. Adhere the balloon together. Adhere the balloon to the parrots right wing.

Step Thirteen. Use foam squares to adhere the Happy Birthday sentiment to the right of parrot.

Step Fourteen. Adhere the stars from inside the star glasses to the 3 1/4″ stitched square as desired. Die cut one more star out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink over the entire surface of the star. Adhere to the 3 1/4″ stitched square. To finish the card, cut a card base that measures 3 3/4″ x 7 1/2″, score at 3 3/4″. Adhere the card front to the cardbase.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Happy Birthday Card.
