Wedding Layout With Glitter!

February 20, 2020

Good morning! Laura here today to share another layout I created for my niece’s upcoming wedding!

To create this layout:

Step 1 – Trim one piece of paper to 12 x 10 3/4, ink the edges.
Step 2 – ink the edges of a 12×12 paper and adhere the other paper on top.
Step 3 – die cut 3 of the largest Stitched Indented Rectangle, then die cut one with butterfly spray, ink the edges, add a piece of white cardstock under the butterfly spray and adhere to the papers.

Step 4 – create your photo mat, ink the edges and using 3D foam dots of cardboard adhere your photo mat to your papers.
Step 5 – die cut 4 flowers using your favorite ECD flower die, and assemble. set aside. I used the small flower set and the large flower set. I also decided to create one layer if a flower using the double sided tape and the Ocean Blue glitter from the Beach Palette.
Step 6 – die cut a butterfly – I used the small butterfly – using the double sided tape and glitter for the bottom layer and assemble.

Step 7 – die cut one silhouette circle using the largest and second largest circle in the stitched circles.

Step 8 – die cut one heart from the true love die set using double sided tape and glitter.

Step 9 – die cut 11- 1 1/2″ stitched hexagons from various papers and double sided tape and glitter –– I used copper rose and true red.

Step 10 – die cut one celebration flag using double sided tape and glitter.

Step 11 – assemble as shown.

I typically do not take photos in direct sunlight because it washes out the colors but in order to show the shone of glitter, I did take one which you can see below.

And here is the final layout again.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial! You can see the items I used in the link below.

Mr & Mrs Card

July 24, 2019

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you a pretty wedding card perfect to give to that special couple getting married this year.

To create my card, I’ve used a variety of dies and patterned paper from ModaScrap. I hope you enjoy my tutorial!

Step one. Choose a piece of patterned paper from the ModaScrap Pink Cotton Candy Paper Pack. Die cut the 4″ Dashing Rectangle out of the patterned paper piece. Die cut the 4 1/2″ Dashing Rectangle out of the kraft cardstock piece. Ink the edges of both pieces with Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step two. Die cut the Lace Corner twice out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut the Lace Corner twice out of kraft cardstock. Ink the edges of all four corners using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step three. Die cut the 2 3/4″ Dashing Circle out of kraft cardstock. From the Wedding Sentiments stamp set, you’ll need the connected hearts stamp. Apply VersaMark Ink to the heart stamp and stamp onto the circle. Reapply ink to the stamp and stamp again until the entire circle is covered. Ink the edges of the circle using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step four. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Mr & Mrs stamp and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Fussy cut the Mr & Mrs out.

Step five. Choose another patterned paper piece out of Pink Cotton Candy Paper Pack. Die cut one of the hearts from the True Love die set out of the patterned paper. Ink the edges of the heart using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step six. Choose a third piece of patterned paper from the Pink Cotton Candy Paper Pack. Die cut the hearts from the Love, Life Tag out of the patterned paper three times. Ink the edges of the three hearts using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step seven. Adhere the 4″ Dashing Rectangle to the 4 1/2″ Dashing Rectangle.

Step eight. Adhere the white lace corner to the kraft lace corner, making sure a bit of the kraft lace corner is showing. Repeat the previous step for the other corner. Adhere one of the lace corners to the bottom right side of the rectangles. Adhere the other lace corner to the top left side of the rectangles.

Step nine. Foam square the dashing circle to the middle of the cardfront. Foam square the heart to the middle of the circle.

Step ten. Adhere the Mr & Mrs sentiment to the middle of the heart. Adhere the three hearts around the large heart. Cut a piece out of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 5 3/4″ x 9″, score at 4 1/2″. Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.

Time Flies Photo Frame

April 30, 2019

Hello friends, it’s Sandy! Each year when hubby and I celebrate our anniversary, I create a mixed media project to commemorate the occasion. This year we will be celebrating number 55 so I have made a special photo frame, Time Flies.

I am showing it with no photo because that will be added later. There is a video at the end of the post – I hope you enjoy the process.

I began with the Timely Pocket Watch from Wendy Vecchi, I’ve had this in my stash for a long time so I’m not sure if they are still available.
I used the two main parts in the package and covered them with gesso. If you are not familiar with gesso, it is a primer that can be applied to nearly any surface to neutralize the color.
To get the desired color on the watch, I used Prima Metallique Wax, White Gold. This wax is really intended to be used to highlight details on a mixed media project but it worked great for this. After the wax dried, it was buffed with a soft cloth. In order to make the watch look old and a bit tarnished, I dry brushed on some black paint and then buffed it.
A small piece of corrugated paper was added to the top of the watch to make it look like the watch stem where you would wind it. It was then covered with the same wax.
There are three of different flowers and ferns used to decorate the pocket watch. I will link to Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s videos below so you can see how they are made. The Helenium, Ladder Fern and Baby’s Breath were used here.
The first thing to go on were the Heleniums.
Next all the rest of the flowers and ferns were added. Sometimes you just need to play with all the pieces to see how they look best and that is what I did here.
Using the same corrugated paper, I cut out the Butterfly Aperture and then cut it down the center.
The wings went on to the back section of the pocket watch.
Using the largest circle in the Fitted Circles die set, a white circle was cut out and placed on the inside of the frame. Since I still need to add a photo, the frame was only glued near the top. This way I can add my photo and then glue the rest together along with a piece of acetate to protect the photo.
For the final step, I added a piece of decorative paper to make the frame look complete.

I enjoyed making this and sharing it with you,
See you again soon,
Sandy

Love Valentine’s Day Card

January 15, 2019

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Love Valentine’s Day Card. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about creating cards for the occasion. The inspiration for my card came from ModaScrap’s True Love Die. With that element figured out, I added more to the card with die from Joset Designs to finish it off. I hope that you enjoy my tutorial!

Step 1. Die cut the heart edge from the Valentine’s Edges out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step 2. Choose a piece of patterned paper –– the ModaScrap Simply Love Patterned Paper Pack is perfect for this project. Die cut the 3 1/2″ Dashing Rectangle from the patterned paper piece. Ink the edges of the rectangle using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Blending Tool with Foam.

Step 3. Die cut a 3 1/2″ Dashing Rectangle out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Place a stencil with “x’s” overtop of the die cut piece. Sprinkle Red, Rosebud and Hot Pink Magenta Nuance overtop of the stencil and spritz with water, remove the stencil. Allow the rectangle to dry.

Step 4. Place the 3″ Dashing Rectangle overtop of the stenciled rectangle piece and run through your die cutting machine. You’ll end up with the piece shown above step 3 and the piece shown below step 3. Ink the edges of both pieces using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step 5. From the True Love Die, you’ll need the small to large hearts. Die cut the hearts out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Sprinkle Hot Pink Magenta Nuance overtop of the Love heart, sprinkle Rosebud Magenta Nuance overtop of the small heart and sprinkle Red Magenta Nuance overtop of the medium heart. Spritz all three hearts with water. Once the hearts are dry, ink the edges using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Blending tool with foam.

Step 6. Adhere the heart edge to the 3 1/2″ patterned paper rectangle.

Step 7. Adhere the 3 1/2″ stenciled rectangle on an angle overtop of the 3 1/2″ patterned paper rectangle. Foam square the 3″ rectangle to the middle of the 3 1/2″ patterned paper rectangle.

Step 8. Foam square the hearts in a row in the middle of the 3″ stenciled rectangle piece.

Step 9. Cut a cardbase out of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 5″ x 8″, score at 4″. Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Love Valentine’s Day Card.
