Shimmer Sheetz Sunday: Cupcake and Cake Toppers

July 8, 2018

By Judi Kauffman

This tutorial is devoted to sweet treats and parties. And, yes. I ate all three fancy store-bought cupcakes after finishing the photos…one a day to prove myself capable of a modicum of self-restraint (I live near Georgetown Cupcake so I splurged), but I resisted the urge to bake or buy a cake on which to show the cake topper!

This project has many other options. Several are listed at the end of the instructions.

Die Cut Design Team Designer Challenge – February

February 7, 2017

Hello everyone,

Welcome to our February Die Cut Design Team Designer Challenge. This month the challenge theme is In Stitches – the Design Team are featuring any of the Elizabeth Craft Designs “Stitched” dies on their cards/projects this month. They can decorate their projects with anything else they like.

For today’s challenge we are giving away sets of the stitched dies ( a pack of 6 separate dies that includes: Stitched Hearts, Fishtails, Squares, Rectangles, Ovals and Circles) to 3 people.

To enter simply leave a comment on this blog post below and tell us “What Designer Challenge would you like to see in the future?”

We will select 3 lucky winners in a random drawing

The winners will be announced on Friday, February 10 on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

Now let’s take a look at the wonderful creations our talented Design Team have created for the Challenge this month. For more information about the cards, click on the Designer’s name under each card to be taken to the Designer’s blog post and will open up in a new window.

To get us started today, Selma Stevenson has created this wonderful Dreamcatcher card. For the “stitched” part of the challenge, Selma has used the Stitched Fishtails, one of the new dies, and the Celebrate sentiment from the Els van de Burgt Studio collection. To decorate her card, Selma has used the Dreamcatcher, Arrows and some of the negative pieces from the Diamond Background (on the sides of her card) – dies all from Joset Designs. Selma used Soft Finish Cardstock to create her card and embellished the Dreamcatcher using Glitter Dots Peel-Offs.

Sandy Diller is making us quiver with this fun tag. Sandy has created a tag using the Tags & More – Lace die set from the Els van de Burgt Collection. Sandy has used the new Joset Designs Diamond Background die to create an embossed pattern onto the Olive Twist Soft Finish Cardstock tag. Sandy’s “stitched” pieces are the ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners and the Els van de Burgt Studio Stitched Hearts. To finish off her tag, Sandy added the Joset Designs Arrows to the heart.

For our next project today, Birgit Norton has created a beautiful card using the Stitched Hearts; Stitched Rectangles; Dotted Scallop Rectangles, Leaf & Berry Branches and Love Sentiments from the Els van de Burgt Studio collection. Birgit chose Soft Finish Cardstock to create her card using the colors White, Olive Twist and Pale Peach.

Frances Byrne has created a fun background on her card using the  ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners and Dark Fuchsia, Perfect Purple, Dusky Lavender and White Soft Finish Cardstock. To decorate her card Frances has used the Stitched Circles, Dotted Scallop Rectangles and Celebrate sentiment from Els van de Burgt Studio. To finish off her card she chose the Joset Designs Small Cupcake, using Lavender Ice Silk Microfine Glitter on the stars.

Evgenia Petzer has created our next gorgeous card. To decorate her card she has used the ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners for the designer paper on the background of her card. Evgenia has also used ModaScrap Leaf Branch 3 and Lace Heart, and Stitched Hearts from Els van de Burgt Studio.

Design Team member Sanna Lippert decided to create not one, but two cards for the challenge using similar dies and layout. For her cards Sanna chose the Stitched Fishtails, Stitched Hearts and Love Sentiments from Els van de Burgt Studio. Sanna  also used Joset Designs General Sentiments Clear Stamps to create the XOXO background on the fishtail tag on the top card.

Next up is a card from Melanie Smith. Melanie chose the Stitched Rectangles from Els van de Burgt Studio to die cut the rectangular panels on her card. To decorate her card Melanie has used Joset Designs Teacup die using various designer papers . Melanie has also added the ‘Happy Birthday” sentiment from the General Sentiments Clear Stamp set which has been layered using the ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners.

Anita Kejriwal created our next card which uses the Stitched Fishtails, Stitched Circles and the Celebrate sentiment from Els van de Burgt Studio on Soft Finish Cardstock. Anita has also used the ModaScrap Stitched Fishtails; Leaf Pocket; Leafy Branch 3 and Happy Flowers to decorate her card. Note how she has backed the Stitched Fishtails with the Leaf Pocket die.

Our final card for today is from Katelyn Grosart. Katelyn has used the Stitched Circles and Stitched Rectangles from Els van de Burgt Studio.  To decorate her card Katelyn has also used ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners; Leafy Branch 2; Leafy Branch 3 and Happy Flowers on Soft Finish Cardstock. The tiny circles inside the flowers were created using one of the dies from the Dreamcatcher die set from Joset Designs as well as the General Sentiments stamp set.
