Art Journal Collection Summer Journal Special

Relax and Enjoy

September 7, 2020

Karen here today. I am loving the fun of mixed media projects created with the Art Journal line. I haven’t actually started my Art Journal (yet), but the products are fund to use in cardmaking too. Like today’s project!

The background for this card was made by using the following steps:

  • Cut a piece of 90lb White Soft Finish Cardstock at 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.
  • Cover the cardstock with Faded Jeans Distress Oxides
  • Smear some Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide on craft mat, spritz with water, and dip the cardstock into the puddle a few times.
  • Using the round dots pattern stencil from the Summer Journal Special, add some white ink to the corners.
  • Using the odd circle stencil from the Summer Journal Special, add some clear Distress Embossing Ink. (Comes in a dabber for ease)
  • Pour some Ranger Princess Gold Embossing Powder onto the cardstock, remove excess and heat emboss. (I absolutely love that it stuck to some of the small circles, but not all of them!)
  • Cover the cardstock with Distress Glaze. The picture below is before application (and bad lighting). Love how it brightens up!

Add a piece of ripped Kraft cardstock to the bottom (for the sand). Next, cut the card-front with the Stitched Rectangles. Die cut and color the palm tree, clouds and starfish from the Summer Journal Special. (I used: Wild Honey Oxide for the starfish, Vintage Photo and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink for the tree, and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide for the clouds.

Stamp the sentiment from the Beach Sentiments Set and die cut with the Stitched Circles. Stamp a bit of the bubble stamp from the Water Creatures Stamps – using the Tumbled Glass Oxide ink. Finally, finish off with a few random Craft Drops in White.

FuN! Thanks for stopping by today!

Craftily yours, Karen

Cardmaking Paper Flowers

Live in the Moment

August 25, 2020

Karen here today sharing a card that was very fun to make as I got to get all inky to make it. The sentiment “Live in the Moment” seems to be excellent advice these days!

To create the background for this card, I used 90 lb White Soft Finish Cardstock. I smeared some Distress Oxide in Spun Sugar on my craft mat and added some water and smooshed my paper into it. Then I did the same with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide. I finished it up with some splatters of Picked Raspberry. I cut this piece with a Stitched Rectangle die.

Then I colored up another piece of Soft Finish Cardstock with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide, add Double Sided Adhesive (101mm) and die cut the Symbol Background Die and stuck that to the card front.

Next, I die cut the flowers from the Cherry Blossom Branch with another piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock colored with Worn Lipstick. For these, I also dabbed them straight onto a Picked Raspberry Distress Ink as shown below then shaped the flowers a little.

For the leaves, I used Lucky Clover Distress Oxide. Then I dabbed them with Embossing Dabber and added some Weathered Wood Embossing Glaze. I also shaped the leaves just by pinching them together.

The branch is colored with Vintage Photo Distress ink. For the flower centers, I used Craft Drops in White. The sentiment is from the Zen Sentiments set and is die cut with a Diagonal Stitched Fishtails die.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Craftily yours, Karen

How To Make This Love-Themed Present Set

February 26, 2019

Hello everyone, it´s Sanna Lippert here again. I am very honored to be able to continue as a guest blogger here at the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog bi-monthly this year. As my very first project for this year, I´d like to share a fun love-themed present set with you.

Here is what the finished project looks like:

Here is what I did:

Step 1: Die cut the light purple polka dot paper with the present box with the Pillow Box with Handle die. Also adhere the same paper as a background piece to a white card base.
Step 2: Die cut the jar, the hearts, the tag and the straw from white Soft Finish Cardstock using the Summer Drink die cut die set.
Step 3: Now die cut the flamingos also from white Soft Finish Cardstock using the Flamingos die cut die set.
Step 4: Die cut a blue background piece from the Fly & Scrap paper collection papers with the Stitched Rectangles die.
Step 5: Using Distress Inks color the flamingos, the jar, the hearts and the straw. I used mainly various pink tones and an ink blending tool for this step. Stamp a sentiment onto the jar tag.
Step 6: Build the box, then assembly the flamingos and the jar together and adhere on place.
Step 7: Decorate with a matching colored ribbon.

I´ve also recorded a process video for your to watch to give you a better idea on each an every step. Hope you enjoy it!

This is all from me for today. This type of love-themed project is perfect for so many occasions. Depending on the colours you choose, you can create something for Mother´s Day or for a Wedding or for a baby shower even!

I hope I could inspired you to play a little with your papers and dies. See you in April again!
Happy crafting,
Sanna

Two Cards from One Background

April 8, 2018

Hello everyone, it´s Sanna here again with another guest blog post. For today´s post, I´ve created two love themed cards that can be used for Mother´s Day and other similar occasions.

I created only one background piece with a heat embossing and inking technique, and with a clever trick I got two cards out of the one background piece.
