You Make Me Smile

September 5, 2019

So the kids are back in school, the weather is cooling down, and I am getting to reconnect with some mom friends at drop off and pick up. It is such a lovely time of year and I wanted to make a little card for a friend just to say thank you. She always makes smile with her upbeat attitude and positive outlook so I thought a card featuring a handmade paper rose would be perfect to let her know what I think of her friendship.

Step One: Die cut the Garden Notes English Rose die out of some 110lb White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Two: Using copic markers color the rose petals. I used Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17, and YR15.

Step Three: Shape the petals using the four piece all metal tool set and molding pad.

Step Four: Assembled the petals using some liquid adhesive. I used Kids Choice Glue.

I just love how the finished rose looks. It looks almost real.

Step Five: Color the leaf die cuts. I used G81, G85 and G46.

Step Six: Shape the leaves using the four piece metal tool set and the leaf molding pad.

Step Seven: Die cut the water can from the Garden Notes Garden Water Can die set using some 110lb White Soft Finish cardstock.

Step Eight: Color the watering can. I used some Bronze and Fire Ruby Wax. Adhere the spout to the can.

Step Nine: Trim a piece of Relax in the Garden printed paper to 4.25×5.5 inches and adhere to an A2 Card frame.

Step Ten: Adhere the can to the card frame using some 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive. Adhere the rose and the leaves to the card frame using some Kids Choice Glue.

Step Eleven: Die cut the sentiment from the Words 2- Thinking of You die set out of some Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere to the card frame.

Step Twelve: Stamp the rest of the sentiment onto some more Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock using the Build Your Sentiment 1 stamp set. I stamped the sentiment ‘You’ and ‘Make Me’ in both black and white ink. Adhere the cardstock to the card frame. Add some white dots using a gel pen around the edges of the cardstock.

There is something that makes me so happy about this card. The yellow rose just makes it seem so friendly.

Because of the dimension and texture to this card, I will not place it in an envelope, but instead inside a little gift bag with some chocolate.

What kid of crafting supplies do you use to let your friends know you are grateful for their kindness? Let us know in the comments below how you help celebrate your friendships. Until then, happy crafting.

Halloween Elixir with Spooky Poinsettias

September 27, 2016

Annette Green here today with Susan’s Garden design team to share a fun Halloween decor project. I recently received a whimsical (and tasty) bottle of wine from a good friend who knows how much I LOVE Halloween. We drank it up with our friends, and I immediately washed out the bottle and put it aside for a future project. I’d love to share how I altered it into a fun and festive decor piece for my home during the fall season.

Springtime Dogwoods

April 29, 2016

By Jeanette Horner

Hello, its Jeanette here for Susan’s Garden Club. Remembering the old barn in a neighbors field, and every spring this beautiful old dogwood tree, bloomed so beautiful against the barn. I think of it in the springtime and wonder if it is still there. The limbs would fall across the old door, with the old iron hinges and old leather strap, for a handle. This inspired the card…

No Winter Lasts Forever

April 18, 2016

SGDT-4-18-2016

Good Morning.  This is Selma Stevenson today with a card designed using Susan’s CountryScapes dies.  When working with the CountryScapes dies, you can be so creative designing different scenes.   There has been some very terrible weather in our country this past year and it is nice to know that “No Winter lasts forever . . . No Spring skips its turn”.   It always makes me so happy to see the trees, shrubs and flowers come to life with glorious color.
