Merry Christmas

November 29, 2020

Hello & Welcome to my post today! Samantha here and today I wanted to share this Christmas card using the Elegant Christmas Tree die. This is one of my favourite Christmas themed dies, and while I love paper piecing I often find it overwhelming with intricate dies like this. Colouring is a perfect way to get a similar effect – it’s also much more quicker and less messy!

Card Instructions:

Step 1: Using alcohol ink friendly cardstock die cut both parts of the Elegant Christmas tree die. Place the detailed Christmas tree onto the Christmas tree base. Use a pencil to trace the details on to the Christmas tree base.

Step 2: Select your Copic markers (RV00/RV02/RV04/RV06/RV09) to colour each individual detail traced onto the Christmas tree. Use as eraser to rub out the pencil lines.

Step 3: Continue to colour until all the details are coloured in.

TIP: No need to colour within the lines – it is best to colour slightly out side of each lines.

Step 4: Adhere the die cut detailed Christmas tree onto the coloured in Christmas tree base. Next adhere the Christmas tree onto a pink card base (Card Measurement: 10.5cm x 14.5cm).

Step 5: (Optional) Add machine stitched details.

Adhere Clear Double Sided adhesive to white cardstock. Remove the release sheet to expose the adhesive layer and apply a generous amount of Silk Microfine Glitter (Silver). Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle. Use this glitter card to die cut the small stars from the Elegant Christmas Tree die.

Adhere the larger star to the top of the tree and embellish the tree with the rest of the smaller stars.

Step 6: Die cut a circle using pattern paper, stamp the sentiment – trim to create a half circle. Adhere the sentiment onto the card base.

Step 7: Embellish card with a twine bow and sequins. Adhere the card front to an A6 card base.

A fun, bright Christmas card without the mess! Hope this inspires you to try it out yourself.-

Happy Crafting!

Samantha

Fur Baby Christmas Tags

November 16, 2020

Hi Friends! It’s EK, and today I am creating a couple of holiday tags for all the all those who love their Fur Babies. It is no secret that I absolutely love taking the ECD’s critter dies and dressing them up for different holidays. Well, with the release of the new Winter Accessories die set, I will have no problem at all getting all the different critters dressed and ready for Christmas. Today, I have dressed up the Cat and Dog die set for all those that love their pets as much as family.

Step One: Die cut from 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock the Cat die set.

Step Two: Using alcohol markers, color the die cut pieces. I used copic markers.

Step Three: Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere the die cut pieces of the Cat die set together.

Step Four: Repeat steps 1-3 using the Dog die set.

Step Five: Die cut the Santa Hat, Scarf, and Reindeer ears from the new Winter Accessories and color them with alcohol markers.

Step Six: Adhere the Winter Accessories to the Cat and Dog.

Step Seven: Die cut the Elegant Christmas Trees die set in both beige and dark gray cardstock. Die cut a black backing for the trees. This will make up the base of the tag.

Step Eight: Die cut one of the Diagonal Stitched Fishtails die set two times in red cardstock. Die cut two times a sentiment from the Words- 5 Winter Wishes die set out of dark green cardstock.

Step Nine: Adhere the with 10mm Clear Double Sided Tape the Dog to the beige tag. Adhere with Kids Choice Glue the die cut sentiment.

Step Ten: Add a sentiment from the Furrever Friends stamp set to the Fishtail tag. Punch a hole in both the Elegant Christmas Tree and Fishtail banner. Adhere the banner to the tag with a little 6mm Clear Double Sided Tape so the banner is fixed. Add a ribbon to the hole punched holes.

Here is the finished tag featuring the Dog die set.

Step Eleven– Repeat steps 9-10 this time using the dark grey Elegant Christmas Tree and Cat die set.

Here is the finished Cat tag!

Which of the Elizabeth Craft Designs critters would you dress up for this holiday season using the new Winter Accessories? Let us know in the comments below. Until then, happy Christmas crafting!

Have a Magical Day

April 27, 2020

Hello! Samantha here! Welcome!

I’ve wanted to create a card using this Dragon die for the longest time but could never figure out a background. Paper alone wasn’t going to give me the look I wanted so I brought out the ink pads and created my own colourful background!

Card Instructions:

Step 1: Cut out a card front using white card stock measuring: 10.5cm x 14.5cm

Step 2: Using a blending tool, blend circular spots of purple ink onto the card front.

Step 3: Using a blending tool, blend circular spots of pink ink onto the card front.

Step 4: Using a blending tool, fill in the gaps, blending yellow ink onto the card front.

Step 5 : Using the star dies – from Elegant Christmas Tree die cut a stencil from a piece of scrap white card stock.

Step 6: Use this star stencil and a blending tool to apply white pigment ink onto the card base.

Step 7: Move the stencil around, and repeat step 6 until you are happy with the amount of stars on the card front.

Step 8: Using a variety of pink card stock die cut the clouds.

NOTE: These clouds are actually from the Elizabeth Craft Designs ‘tree’ die.

Step 9: Adhere Clear Double Sided adhesive to light pink cardstock. Remove the release sheet to expose the adhesive layer and apply a generous amount of Silk Microfine Glitter (Diva). Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle. Use this glitter card to die cut the wings, tail, and ears of the dragon.

Step 10: Die cut the remaining pieces of the Dragon – use a variety of shades in pink card stock.

Step 11: Assemble the dragon and adhere the pieces together. Adhere googly eyes to the dragon.

Step 12: Stamp the sentiment using embossing ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool. Adhere this to the card front.

Step 13: Adhere card base to an A6 card front. Embellish with sequins and a twine bow.

I loved playing around with this bokeh ink blending background technique – especially using die cut stars to create a stencil. Hopefully it inspires you to try this technique maybe even die cut your own stencil.

Happy Crafting !
