You Are A Koalaty Friend Card

November 6, 2019

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. By now you’ve seen the new release from Joset Designs. Oh my. There are new character dies such as the panda and koala bear along with some Japanese style dies. My card was inspired by this photo. Below you will find the steps to create your own Koala bear card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, score at 4 1/4” and fold in half for a vertical side fold card (A2)

Step 2 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”. Apply Distress Oxide ink onto a craft mat and spray with water. Dip the Cardstock into the ink and heat set. Repeat several times until you reach the desired effect.

Step 3 – Diecut Stitched Indented Rectangles using the background created from Step 2. Adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 4 – Diecut Koala and Bamboo using either coloured Cardstock or ink colours on White Cardstock. Assemble the pieces using Kids Choice Glue. Adhere to card using Kids Choice Glue and Foam Tape.

Step 5 – Stamp Bear Hugs sentiment using Versamark Ink. Sprinkle Silver Embossing Powder and remove the excess. Heat set it using a heat tool. Diecut Stitched Diagonal fishtail and adhere to card using Foam Tape.

This card can be used for many occasions by changing the sentiment and colours. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 4, 2019

The holiday is almost here! I hope you’ll all be celebrating it together with family and friends. It truly is about Faith, Family and Love.

Today I’ve done a card (6” x 6”) which has different flowers than I normally use. The painting in the frame is a primitive Tole painting of a Pilgrim family I painted last year for a wooden frame where I interchange my painted boards for each holiday. It seemed perfect for this card.

The layer of background paper is from the Wood Effects pack. I shaded the wheat then rubbed some white chalk on the tips to highlight them.

The flowers, wheat and frame are from ECD’s ModaScrap dies. The leaves and berry branches are from ECD, as well. They are more delicate flowers than usual, but work up well.

I’ve also used ECD’s new ‘Craft Drops’ for the berries. (Metallic Gold) Of course there is the wonderful ladybug, but I’ve made her by using red and black Nuvo drops on my Teflon mat, then using white and black gel pens for her eyes and the dots on her shell.

My computer helped me with the words on the frame, and I had a Thanksgiving stamp in my ‘stash’. For the center of the flower I used Yes!  glue, rolled into a small ball then rolled in gold/yellow prills.

If you are interested in any of the products I’ve used, they are listed below. Click on each product and you will be directed to the ECD page where you can complete your order.

Bring on the turkey and pumpkin pie! See you next month!

Sneak Peek: Flourished Deer!

October 19, 2019

I’m thrilled to introduce you to some of the brand new dies coming VERY soon to Elizabeth Craft Designs!

Meet the Flourished Deer – large enough to be a feature design on a card and yet leave room for lots of other embellishments if you wish.  The Flourished Deer comes with a collar, a bell, an eye and a Rudolph nose should you wish to use it!  It’s so versatile!

The flourished snowflake is part of a new set of Flourished Christmas Minis which are perfect on their own and also fit beautifully inside the Love Joy Peace Christmas Ornament.  They’re great for combining with stamps, too.  (We have a new set of those as well!)

This is how you make this card….

Hocus Pocus

October 15, 2019

Hi Friends! It’s EK popping in to create a little Halloween Fun. My family’s favorite Halloween movie is Hocus Pocus, and it occurred to me, that I could make my own bit of witchy fun using the Halloween Accessories and some creative coloring.

Step One: Die cut all the pieces you need from some 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock using both the Halloween Accessories die set and the Spider Web die set.

Step Two: Color up the accessories and assemble using Kids Choice Glue. I used a combination of cool grays for the cauldron (C5, C7, C9). I used E31, E34, and E37 for the bristles on the broom stick, while I used E81, E84, and E87 for the handle and spoon. I used G02, G05, and G09 for the bubbles and sludge.

Step Three: Color up the Witch’s Hats and assemble with Kid’s Choice Glue. I themed each of the hats after each of the three witches from Hocus Pocus. I colored a blonde hat (Y000, Y00, Y02 and Y06) to represent Sarah, a gray hat (W5, W7, W9) to represent Mary, and a reddish hat (E13, E07, E09, E19) to represent Winifred.

Step Four: Cut a piece of Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock to 12×6 inches and score and fold to make a 6×6 card base. Then spray and splatter the card frame with some Distress Oxide Spray. I used Mermaid Lagoon.

Step Five: Die cut out the movie title’s letters using the Blackboard Alphabet letters from some Spring Green Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Six: Using a copic maker, give the title a little shading. I used both a YG13 and N2 copic.

Step Seven: Trim the spider web into half and adhere it to the corners of the card frame with some Kids Choice Glue.

Step Eight: Using both Kids Choice Glue and 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the rest of the pieces of the card to the card frame.

I just love how this card came out and can’t wait to send it to my best friend who loves this move even more than I do. I think without stealing any intellectual rights, I was about to absolutely capture the feel of the movie.

Let me know in the comments below if I put a spell on you! Until then, Happy Crafting.

Eat, Drink & Be Scary

September 17, 2019

Hello – Samantha here! Today I am sharing a Halloween-themed card. Halloween might not be wildly celebrated here in Australia – but I have always enjoyed the colour schemes and fun images associated with this holiday. I also enjoy eating candy and chocolate…

Instructions:

Step 1: Using black cardstock die cut the spider web and adhere this to a black card base measuring 10.5cm x 15.5cm .

Step 2: Using bright pink cardstock die cut the spider web – use the negative pieces and insert these into the negative space of the black outlined spider web.

TIP: Adhere Clear Double Sided adhesive to the back of the pink card before die-cutting to make the adhering process quick and easy.

Step 3: Repeat step 2 to fill in the remaining negative spaces using bright orange and purple card or specialty paper.

Step 4: Adhere Double Sided Adhesive to black card stock and die cut the spiders 3x.

Step 5: Remove the release sheet to expose the adhesive layer and apply a generous amount of Silk Microfine Glitter (Basic Black). Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.

Step 6: Using watermark ink – stamp the sentiment. Apply a generous amount of white embossing powder and heat set with a heat gun/tool. Trim to size as shown.

(Optional) Add machine stitched detail to the spider web.

Step 7: Assemble card – use foam tape to adhere the sentiment and spiders. Embellish with enamel dots and a twine bow. Adhere to an A6 side folding card base.

Happy Crafting!
