Pink Lady Bug Accordion Birthday Card

March 16, 2014

   ECDLadyBug-wm

Hi everyone, Frances Byrne here.

I needed to make a birthday card for my Grand Niece who is turning one at the end of the month and the theme of her party is pink lady bugs. So when I saw the Lady Bug Peel-Off Stickers I knew I needed to use these to create her card.

As I wanted to replicate the dots of a lady bug it wasn’t hard to decide to create an Accordion card using Karen Burniston’s  Oval Accordion Card die.

Here is how I created my card:

ECDLadyBug5-wm

1. Cut a piece of white card big enough to fit one large Lady Bug and two small Lady Bugs. Apply a piece of double sided adhesive to one side of the card.  Lay the liner that you just removed from the adhesive sheet on your table and remove one large and two small lady bugs from the Lady Bug Peel-Off Sticker sheet and place on the liner sheet sticky side up. Lay the adhesive side of the white card down onto the stickers and rub the back of the card so that the stickers transfer from the liner to the white card. Apply Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter over each Lady Bug and polish the glitter into each of the Lady Bugs. Remove excess glitter and use Copic markers to color over the glitter. You can see this technique in more detail in Els’ video which you can find here.

2. Using the Oval Accordion Card die, die cut three pages from black card. On the third page, run this back through your die cutting machine using the embossing sandwich for your die cutter so that the embossed stitching on the die is embossed onto the page. Without removing the die take a white chalk marker and color each stitch line.

3. Adhere double sided adhesive sheet to pink card. Using the Oval Dots Frame Edges die, die cut six long and six short frames. Apply frames to both sides of one of the black pages and the other set of frames to the remaining black page.

4. Apply adhesive to the tabs and join the three pages so that the two pages with the pink frames are on either side of the stitched black page. Trim off the large tab from the third page.

5.  Use the Oval Accordion card die again to die cut the oval only from the “accordion page” die from pink card. Trim off the tabs etc and adhere over the black oval of the center page.

6. Use the largest oval accessory die from the Oval Accordion Card set to cut out three white ovals. On the third oval use the stitching die from this set to create a stitched border.

7. Use black ink to stamp “Look Who’s 1” to the white stitched oval and attach to the center page using foam tape.

8. Take some Green Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz and the Curvy Leaves die and cut out four sets of leaves. You will need to use metal adaptor plate to help cut the leaves out cleanly.

9. Arrange the leaves onto your white ovals so you are happy with the arrangement and attach to the ovals using foam tape. Attach the large Lady Bug to one of the ovals  and one of the smaller Lady Bugs to the other oval as per photo.

ECDLadyBug4-wm

10. Adhere the last small Lady Bug to the top right hand corner of the centre accordion page using foam tape. Use two of the left over Shimmer Sheetz leaves and attach these either side of the Lady Bug.

ECDLadyBug6-wm

11. Die cut the Happy Birthday sentiment five times from black card and once from pink card. Use adhesive to layer all the black sentiments into one thick sentiment, then adhere the pink sentiment to the top of this. Adhere the “Happy” to the left hand page and the “Birthday” to the right hand page.

12. Attach the white ovals to the center panels of the left and right pages of the accordion.

13. Apply tape to the small tabs of the first two ovals. Remove the tape from the tab of the first oval and join the first oval to the centre oval. The fold of the card should be a valley fold while the two ovals will form a mountain fold. Remove the tape from the tab of the center tab and bringing the ovals behind the oval pages join the last two ovals together. The second fold on the card should be a mountain fold and the fold of the ovals a valley fold. Trim off the excess small tab from the last oval.

Hi Everyone!! My name is Jackie Smith and I was super excited to be asked to join the first ever Elizabeth Craft Designs Design Team! It’s my first post and I’m going to show you how to use Karen Burniston’s newest Pop It Ups Collection dies called ‘Accordion Oval’ to make a real simple card. In this die package comes an oval frame along with 4 nesting ovals plus a heart. I started off using Pool Party paper as my base and cut out 2 frames using the Oval frame die. I wanted to add a layer to both frames which is really easy to do. I first cut 2 frames out of the butterfly paper (Kaisercraft collection – “Enchanted Garden”). I then cut out the oval and cut the frame down 1/8″ along the short and long sides. I did this to all 4 sides of the 2 frames. You can see Karen demoing this die here

I cut out 2 more ovals using the dies that come with this oval set and stamped the sentiment by Stampendous using Archival ink by Wendy Vecchi. I added a black butterfly peel-off called ‘Daisies in Oval’ and coloured it using Copic Markers on Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.  You can see Els demoing it  here on her YouTube video.

For the inside of both frames, I cut out the polka Dot border using the Oval Dot Frame Edges. I used double sided adhesive that was placed onto decorative paper. I then applied Fuchsia Silk Microfine Glitter to the left side of the frame and Leaf Green to the right. For the left side I used the black peel-off Daisies in Oval and colored them using Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. I used the following Copic Markers:

For the right side I used the die called “Daisy”. I cut the daisy silhouette out of pink Shimmer Sheetz and the overlay out of black Velvet Adhesive sheet. I used a glue pen for the centre of the flower and added some Fuchsia Silk Microfine Glitter.  I then cut the leaves using the leaf die from the same die set using Peridot Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz. I cut out the greeting using the die called ‘Thank You’ from Pink and Black Velvet Adhesive sheets. I laid the black ‘Thank You’ down first and then offset the pink ‘Thank You’ on top.

Fancy Label Accordion Card with The Bowl of Cherries Peel Offs

March 14, 2014

Hi, it’s Kelly Booth here with My First Post on the ECD Blog!  I’m Excited to be on this Very talented team and get to work with Amazing Tools.

I decided to work with the Fancy Label Accordion Die Set along with the Fancy Frame Edges and the Bowl of Cherry Peel Offs. I Love coloring the Peel Off stickers in the Usual Way (on cardstock) and also using the Silk Microfine Glitter and coloring them. For this card I colored them in the Usual way with the Exception of one of the Cherries which I have colored on the Silk Microfine Glitter.

Here is the Front of my CardLife_is_Sweeter_Closed

See the Silk Microfine Glitter on the Cherry?  I Love the way it Sparkles….

I’m a big fan of a Nice Black Line and you don’t always get that with Ink that is copic Friendly so this Solves that problem for me and I Love it!

Little Fishes Big Thank You

March 10, 2014

Good morning, Everyone!

This is Rita Edwards and sharing my very first Design Team card today. We’re making a sweet Thank You card !

You might already know how much I love the ocean and what better image to use than the Fishes Peel-Off Stickers! I also chose the Accordion Oval Card die set with the Oval Dots Frame Edges and the Thank You die sets.

Once all the die cuts are made, the very first step I take is connecting the base pieces and only then start adding the frames. This way we can cover the connection points between two base pieces, just like this photo below shows. Also, to create the perfect frames for the base card, I work with all four of the frame edges at once. I first place some glue on the back of each frame piece and only press the middle of each frame onto the base cut. This way I can easily adjust the connection points of each frame segment and the result is perfectly lined up frames.
