How To Create Cards With Planner Essentials Stamps

Hello everyone! It’s Sanna Lippert here today again, sharing my June Guest Design Team project(s) with you.

I don’t do planners that much, but I still really like the Planner Essentials clear stamp sets that Esther Glas designed. So when I first saw them, I knew I wanted to use them for another purpose: cardmaking! They, by the way, would also work great on art journals, ATCs and tags even.

Here is what I did:
Step 1: Take a sheet of white Soft Finish Cardstock and the Patterns 1 Planner Essentials stamp set and stamp a grid with an embossing ink onto the paper. Then pour white embossing powder over the stamped area, dabb any residue off and heat set with a heat tool.
Step 2: Repeat the previous step and now use one of the flower images in the same stamp set.

Step 3: Color the grid piece with a green Distress Ink and an ink blending tool and then color the flowers using a water tank brush and pink, orange and yellow Distress Ink tones. After you are done coloring the flowers, apply blue Distress Ink onto the working surface and color the background around the flowers blue.
Step 4: Cut the pieces into a right size with a paper trimmer.
Step 5: Fussy cut the flower piece along the right side edge with scissors.
Step 6: Adhere both pieces onto a white appr. 6×6 inch sized white card base with Kids Choice glue.

Step 7: Add a ribbon to the card and ink a strip of white cardstock with a green Distress Ink, then stamp a sentiment with black ink onto the strip using the Remember Planner Essentials stamp set.
Step 8: Fussy cut the banner OR use the Stiched Fishtail Banner die to die cut it and adhere the banner in place. Recorate with roses and liquid drops.

For my second card I used the same stamp sets with these steps:
Step 1: Use the residue ink from the blue background card on your working surface and dabb a piece of white cardstock into it until you have grabbed all color from the surface.
Step 2: Take the Patterns 1 Planner Essentials stamp set – the number stamp – and start stamping the image repeatedly onto the background with the same Distress Ink tone.

Step 3: Use an ink blending tool and apply the same Distress Ink tone onto a strip of white cardstock. Now use the Remember stamp set to stamp a sentiment with black stamp ink onto the strip.
Step 4: Adhere the pieces together and cut any residue parts off with scissors. Then adhere this piece onto a appr. 6×6 inch sized white card base.

Step 5: Take the border stamp from the same stamp set and using black stamp ink stamp the image repeatedly on both sides of the free white area on the card.
Step 6: Decorate with puffy stickers or buttons and add a few liquid drops for additional decor.

A Way With Words Joset Designs

Let Your Dreams Soar

Hi everyone, Diana here. I am loving these new Adventure Animals dies by Joset –– they are so cute! They come together very easily –– Joset has some great videos on how to put them together and I think the best part about them is that you can arrange them in different ways. I decided to make my elephant “float” in the air. I found the perfect quote to go with it in Suzanne Cannon’s Soar Collection.

Tall and Skinny is the way to go with this design

In order to have all my elements fit, I went with a tall and skinny design that would fit inside a business envelope.

Cut a piece of cardstock to 3.5″ x 8.25″.
I die cut out the elephant and 4 of the right legs since I was doing a side view of the elephant out of white soft cardstock.
I also cut out the balloons and grass from Balloons and Tree die set.
Distress Oxides were used to color all the different pieces. Hickory Smoke and Tattered Rose for the elephant; Frayed Burlap and Bundled Sage for the grass; Candied Apple and Salty Ocean for the balloons.
To make the background, I used the clouds from the Rainbow Sky die set to make a cloud mask. Die cut several clouds and adhere to a strip to make a quick cloud border. Scoot the mask back and forth so the clouds don’t look the same on every layer.

6. Stamp “Let your dreams soar” along the top edge first. I then went down the left and right side. The strip of grass is a great “fudge factor” so that you don’t have to worry about ending at just the right place.

The script lettering frames the image really well.

7. Tie a piece of gray twine to the balloons and loop the other end around the elephants trunk. I adhere the balloons first and then stretch the elephant down until the twine was straight. Pop up the heart and the elephant on foam tape to give the card a bit more dimension.

8. I added a 1/16″ matting to the piece before adhering it to the card base.

I hope this inspires you to think outside of the usual A2 size card base. I’m not super fond of making my own envelopes but we all usually have some business envelopes lying around. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

How To Use Sentiments To Create A Background

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. I have a sweet and simple card to share with you using sentiments to create a background. I used the Garden Party Clear Stamps from Krista Schneider. Below you will find the steps to create your own card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Trim Soft Finish Café au Lait to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Stamp Garden Party sentiments (Bloom, Blossom, Grow) using a soft brown Ink. You could mix it up but I decided on the sentiments repeating on each row. Diecut Garden Notes Frame It Stitched Squares. Save the inner square. Diecut Dashing Rectangles and adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 3 – Stamp Garden Party image onto White Soft Finish Cardstock using Gina K Amalgam Ink. This is an alcohol friendly ink. Color in the image using alcohol markers. I used Tri-Blend Markers by Spectrum Noir. Diecut the image with the matching die.

Step 4 – Diecut Dotted Scallop Squares using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere the center square from Step 2 on top of the Dotted Scallop Square diecut and then the diecut image using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape. Optional – Wrap some twine around the bottom 3 times and tie a bow. Adhere to card using foam tape.

Challenge Accepted…And Answered! #MakeFlowersMasculine

I was chatting with Joseph Nguyen from JN Unique Designs on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Family Page the other night and he said “it would be nice if we could make flowers masculine”.

Well Joseph, Challenge accepted!!!

I was inspired by this paper I got at my local craft store. It reminded me of artwork by Georgia O’Keeffe. I got my color pallets from this paper.

First I die cut 2 of each flower so I could have “extras” for fullness.

I used the Copic markers above and colored each piece.

I already had the milk can prepared in my stash-it pays to have things already made.

Next I shaped them on my shaping mat and cutting the yellow center pegs in half so I could get a good base for my pollen.

I assembled the flowers by offsetting the three layers. I dipped the yellow pieces in pollen and put green pollen in center for a darker effect.

Since this card is for my Dad for Father’s Day, I stamped it with the sentiment “Happy Father’s Day”.

I achieved the green background behind punch by cutting same punch in half.

This gave me a “matte” behind my sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed my creation. Flowers are NOT just for Moms!

Big and Bold Butterflies

Hi, Diana here again with more butterfly cards. What can I say? I really really like them and there is no limit on color combos for them. Today I have 3 cards using the same large butterfly die.

White die cuts on distress oxide background

For my first card, I was playing with Distress Oxides and made a background with the blues and greens. I remove some of the ink by splattering water and blotting dry with a paper towel. The butterfly and Smiles was die-cut from white cardstock. I used a Xacto knife to cut out the ‘s’ from Smiles.

For my second card, I used the die and 2 tan embossing folders to emboss the butterfly onto white cardstock. This is so I would know where to color the butterflies into a monarch butterfly. I left the ovals near the edge white and the red was colored with Copics from dark orange to yellow.

After coloring, trim the butterfly out and die cut another butterfly out of black cardstock. I adhered all this to a 5×5 card base and die cut “Miss You” 3 times out of white card stock.

For the last card, I made another blue/green distress ink background. From that, I die cut the butterfly. I made another half with a solid teal card stock – I was trying to go for a butterfly with folded wings.

The Soar was also cut out of the same teal card stock. I hope you enjoyed seeing the same die used different ways – and how versatile the A Way With Words dies are – they go with everything!

Trying Something New With Watercolors!

Hi there! It’s Sara here today, and I have a new project for you featuring ModaScrap products.

I love watercolors and it’s always a good occasion to try something new: today I die cut all the pieces from a piece of watercolor paper and then coloured everything with watercolors.

Here are the steps:

Prepare a base for your card and add some splatters with a black ink.

For the belt you need to partial die cut a piece of kraft cardstock, put your cardstock in the big shot leaving outside the finish part of the die and the rest of the cardstock, repeat the same process on the other side.

Die cut all the leaves and the poppies, colour them.

Glue all the pieces down to the belt and add a bow made with rope.

That’s it!

Joset Designs Silk Microfine Glitter Soft Finish Cardstock

For The Party Animal

Hello & Welcome! Samantha here. Today’s card is one of those cards that once you’ve put it all together, you love it so much you’d rather frame it then give it away! Well that’s how I feel about it anyways…

Card Instructions:

Step 1: Use both the Frame It – Stitched Rectangle and Frame It – Stitched Square die as shown below to create a ‘photo’ frame die cut.

Step 2: Stamp the Sentiment.

Step 3: Using shades of green cardstock and pattern paper die cut several leaves from Tropical Florals and Trio of Leaves.

Step 4: Arrange the leaves on a card front measuring 12.5cm x 17.5cm. When you are happy with the placement of the leaves adhere them down. Use foam tape to adhere the ‘photo’ frame die cut.

(Optional) Add machine stitched details

Step 5: Die cut the zebra and Giraffe die – assemble these as shown, tucking them behind the ‘photo’ frame die cut.

Step 6: Adhere Double Sided Adhesive to white card stock and die cut the hat and glasses from the Party Accessories die set.

Step 6: Remove the release sheet to expose the adhesive layer and apply a generous amount of Silk Microfine Glitter (in Royal Blue and Fruscia). Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle. Complete assembling the party accessories.

Step 7: Adhere the Party Accessories to the die cut animals. Adhere card front to a 5″ x 7″ card base. Embellish with googly eyes, sequins and a twine bow.

I love how this card came together – I think I’m going to have to buy a frame for it! The safari animals are that cute, I don’t think I could part with the card. Do you have projects that you end up just keeping for yourself?
