Elizabeth Craft Designs May Designer’s Challenge – Background Dies

May 31, 2015

Our truly wonderful design team came up with many neat projects as we challenged them with creating designs out of the new Spring Release background dies. Take a look below to see what they did!!

Raquel Mason created this lovely card featuring the Circles die and Koi & Flowers peel-offs. The gold-outlined, glittery Koi & Flowers are so striking against the embossed background. The Circles can be used for so many projects and this one shows off the Circles like bubbles in a pond and just gives the feel of water. Raquel used Silk Microfine Glitter, gold peel-off Borders and the Gingko embossing folder for more dimension and detail. See the full tutorial at Raquel’s blog HERE.Raquel

Frances Byrne went all HAY-wire on us (pun intended) with this adorable Brownie the Cow walking along the path to the barn – how cute!! She did a great job in shading the Pebbles to look real. The Pebbles die is so versatile in that you can use it for creating walkways or rock walls or, yes, even…… jewelry! The new Pop It Ups dies from Karen Burniston were used in conjuction with Els’ new Pebbles dies to create this great farmtime card. Check out Frances’ blog HERE for instructions.

Straight out of the Wizard of Oz, Debra Hensley created this yellow brick road card from the Bricks die. Her imagination was running wild using the feet from Jackie’s Dolls peel-offs and glittering them to look like Dorothy’s red shoes. Follow your heart……..literally and figuratively………using the Alphabet 1 – Caps die and die-cut heart from the Spiral Circle Pull Card. Find out how to make this card HERE on Debra’s blog.

With another water theme, Candy Spiegel makes you feel like you’re out on the high seas. Her use of the new Maritime peel-offs against the wavy pattern paper and Shimmer Sheetz really sets the mood for this gorgeous card. Texture paste on a Pebbles die stencil gives this card dimension and a “wow” factor. Instructions can be found at Candy’s blog HERE.CandyWe have Marsha Valk’s Project Life creation using the new Spring Release Pebbles, Circles & Leafy Branch dies as well as Tags & More 5 – Sunburst, Alphabet 1 – Caps and Numbers & More 1 dies. Marsha has included the Baby peel-offs on mini-canvases from her last blog post and incorporated Shimmer Sheetz into these fun but simple scrapbook spreads. Visit Marsha’s blog HERE to find out how to make this project yourself!

Our fabulous guest designer, Jackeline Rojas, is showing off a Happy Birthday tri-fold card using all three new dies – Circles, Bricks and Pebbles. The hinges hold together the tags made from the Tags & More 7 – Vine die to create a versatile card in which any sentiment can be used. Jacky used Alphabet 1 – Caps to die cut Happy Birthday but you can die cut anything with this Alphabet! Look at Whiskers the Cat surrounded by his favorite dishes – mice and fish! They are all included in the Whiskers die set. To make this project, full instructions can be found at Jacky’s blog HERE.

Angela Beavers used the Bricks and the Bunch of Flowers 4 dies to decorate this fun photo album. She cut the bricks twice to create the two colored brick wall. Love how she kept the colors simple, yellow, black and white but of course you can use any color combination. She added dimension to the flowers by cutting multiples and adhered them together. Find more inspiration on Angela’s blog HERE.

Yesterday we sneak peeked these beautiful earrings created by Judi Kauffman using the Circles die and Shimmer Sheetz. This project is so fun and easy! Simple cut two circles pieces from any color Shimmer Sheetz and add them to the earring wires. Fore more detail you can add beads or cut a second set of circles. Judi also created a card that matches the earring beautiful. For more info and instructions, visit our blog post from yesterday HERE.

As you can see, there are many variations for the ECD dies. We hope this will encourage you to come up with additional ideas for scrapbooking, cards, decorations and more!
