Holiday Thank you Cards

December 26, 2020

Christmas may be over, but that doesn’t mean the need for a few more holiday thank you cards is done. Today I have whipped up four holiday thank notes for family members who thought of us this year.

Step One: Using Elizabeth Craft Designs Watercolor Palette, lay down a layer of color onto some watercolor paper. Each color spot has two or three different colors to create the spot.

Step Two: Die cut the color spots using both A Way With Words Flourished Christmas Minis and Flourished Christmas Minis 2.

Step Three: Using 90lb Soft Finished Cardstock, die cut A Way With Words Family four times.

Step Four: Trim a piece of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock to 4.25×5.5 inches to create four backgrounds of the cards. Blend Distress Oxides around the edges using the darkest on the outside and going lighter to the the middle. I used Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire and Speckled Egg.

Step Five: Repeat four each of the four backgrounds.

Step Six: Spray and splatter the cardstock with a silver shimmer spray.

Step Seven: Die cut the four background pieces with the Stitched Rounded Rectangle die set.

Step Eight: Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the background to an A2 card frame.

Step Nine: Using a stamping platform, add the sentiments to the four card frames. I used both the Love & Hearts Collection stamp set and the Build Your Own Sentiments 1 stamp set.

Step Ten: Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere both the Family die cut and Minis to the four card frames.

Step Eleven: Add little heart flourishes from the Love & Hearts Collection stamp set to the four cards.

Step Twelve: Add Metallic Silver Craft drops to the four cards.

I love how each of these cards came out, looking a lot like winter with just a touch of the lingering holidays.

Do you Send Holiday thank you cards? What do you put as the focus image on them? Let us know in the comments below. Until then, happy crafting.

Fly Away This New Year

December 28, 2019

Hello Friends!  It’s EK Gorman, and today I am crafting a card to celebrate a new year without actually saying ‘happy new year’.  I am not gonna lie, I am more than ready to ring out 2019 and embark on the fresh start that 2020 will bring.  I love the idea of the fresh start and fantastical possibilities a new year can create, so it only seemed fitting to pull out A Way With Words Once Upon a Time die to create this card.

Step One:  Trim a piece of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock to 4.25×11 inches.  Score and fold the cardstock to create a A2 card frame.

Step Two:  Using some masking tape, seal the folded part of the card to protect it from ink.  Using a blending water based ink, create an ombre effect.  I used Distress Oxides in Black Soot, Hickory Smoke and Weather Wood.

Step Three:  Add a halo of light using a yellow toned water based ink.  I used Scattered Straw Distress Oxide.

Step Three:  Die cut both the A Way With Words Once Upon A Time die and the star from the new A Way With Words Flourished Christmas die set out of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock.  Spray the die cuts with a glitter spray.  I used Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray in Frost.  Let dry.

Step Four:  Adhere the die cuts onto the card frame using Kids Choice Glue.  Leave the stars dangling off the edges.

Step Five:  Fold the star over the edges and adhere, so that one star wraps onto the back of the card, and the other wrap onto the inside of the card.

Step Six:  Stamp a sentiment inside the card using the A Way With Words Soar Collection stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment in a dark gray ink and the flutters in a pale gray.

Step Seven:  Using a white pigment ink, stamp the flutters onto the front of the card.

Step Eight:  Add a couple dollops of glitter drops.  I used the new Transparent Crystal Craft Drops from ECD.

Step Nine:  Add a touch of color to the die cuts using an alcohol marker.  I used Y000 and Y02 Copic markers.  Splatter the card from with glitter spray and let dry.

I am really happy with how this card came out.  I think it is perfect for the new year without being too obvious.

Believe In The Magic Of Christmas Gift Tag

December 7, 2019

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, I’m thrilled to be sharing with you my Believe in the Magic of Christmas Gift Tag, which is perfect to add to any Christmas gift or gift bag this holiday season. To create my gift tag, I’ve used a variety of stamps and dies from Suzanne Cannon! To compliment the products from Suzanne Cannon, I’ve also used dies the Planner Essentials Collection.

See my step-by-step below – I hope you enjoy my tutorial!

Step One. Die cut the large tag from the Planner Essentials – 2 die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the two snowflakes from the Christmas Collection stamp set and stamp randomly on the tag. Reapply ink to the stamps as needed. You’ll want to stamp a total of four large snowflakes and three small snowflakes. Sprinkle Burnished Silver Modern Gilding Powder over the stamped images. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Ink the edges of the tag using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Two. From the Falalala word, die cut it out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Cut the word down to 2 1/2″. Apply Emboss It Ink to the word. Sprinkle Kells Gold Modern Gilding Powder over the word. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Step Three. From the Flourished Christmas Minis 2 you’ll need the star. Die cut the star out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the star. Sprinkle Kells Gold Modern Gilding Powder over the star. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Step Four. From the Peace Die, you’ll need the stars. Die cut the star out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to three of the stars. Sprinkle Kells Gold Modern Gilding Powder over each star. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Step Five. Die cut the Christmas Ornament from the Love, Joy, Peace Ornament out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the ornament. Sprinkle Gothic Black Modern Gilding Powder over the ornament. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Step Six. Die cut all the pieces from the Flourished Holly out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Festive Berries Distress Ink over the entire surface of the berries. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Forest Moss Distress Ink over the entire surface of the flourished holly piece and small outline holly leaf. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Forest Moss and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink over the entire surface of the full holly leaves.

Step Seven. Die cut a 2 1/2″ Stitched Circle out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the edges of the circle using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Eight. From the Let Your Heart Be Light stamp set, you’ll need the Believe in the Magic sentiment. Apply Festive Berries Distress Ink to the sentiment and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Cut the sentiment into three strips. Ink the edges of the strips using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Nine. Adhere the stitched circle to the middle of the Falalala word, making sure the flourish is showing. Foam square the Falalala word to the left side of the tag. Adhere the ornament overtop of the circle.

Step Ten. Adhere the flourished holly together. Adhere the star to the middle of the circle. Foam square the flourished holly to the left hand side of the ornament.

Step Eleven. Adhere the three sentiment strips to the right hand side of the circle. Adhere the three stars as desired around the tag.

Step Twelve. To finish the tag, tie a piece a twine through the hole at the top of the tag.

Thank you for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Believe in the Magic of Christmas Gift Tag.

Katelyn
