Susan’s Garden Dahlias in Crate

November 29, 2017

Dear Friends,

Writer and blogger Melanie Koulouris says :
“Happiness blossoms when one plants seeds of love and kindness in the hearts of others.”

Inspired by such thoughts, I present to you today my latest creation using the Dahlia flower, a flower that symbolizes everlasting bonds and commitment. With its multitude of petals, the Dahlia is much like life with all its varied experiences.

I have made this creation using Susan’s Garden Notes Dahlia 2,  Garden Notes Ladder Fern, Garden Notes Ostrich Fern, and Garden Notes  Maidenhair Fern dies.

Here are the steps for making this card:

Step 1 – Cut cardstock to 6″ x 12″, score and fold in half for a 6″ square card base.

Step 2 – Cut a piece of watercolor paper just slightly smaller than the card base and create the background as follows:

Use the Medallion stencil and modeling paste. Remove and clean the stencil. Heat the surface of the background with a heat tool to speed drying or allow to air dry. Mist with Lindy’s colors. Let it dry or heat set.

Step 3 – Die cut a Garden Notes Wooden Fruit Crate from white cardstock and color with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. Adhere to the card front as shown in the photo above.

Step 4 – C\Die cut Ladder Fern, Ostrich Fern and Maidenhair Fern pieces from white cardstock, color and then shape the pieces. Alternatively, die cut from various shades of green cardstock.

Step 5 – Die cut Susan’s Garden Notes Dahlia 2 Flower six times and color with Archival Ink in Sunflower and Rose Madder. Cut, color and shape the leaves as well. Assemble the two Dahlias. (You can watch the Susan’s Garden video tutorial on Facebook – Susan’s Garden Club-Seasonal Hurricane).

Step 6 – Arrange and adhere the ferns, leaves and flowers so they are coming out of the crate.

Step 7 – Stamp and adhere the sentiment.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and will make your own version of my card.

Have a nice day!
