Snowman Wreath Card

Hi everyone! Here in Montreal, our first major storm has just been through, leaving us with a lovely blanket of snow. One of my daughters, although an adult, still gets excited at the thought of snowman building, so this card is for her. It combines my love of Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s CountryScapes with the Build a Snowman die set as well as her lovely Garden Notes – Whitepine Boughs and Pinecone and Garden Notes – Holiday Holly & Berries die sets. Silk Microfine Glitter adds the perfect sparkle to the snowman.

Here’s how it all came together:

1- Create a 6 inch x 6 inch card base from 100lb White Soft Finish Cardstock.

2- Cut a piece of decorative paper to 5 3/4 inches x 5 3/4 inches. Die cut a circle in the centre of the paper using the third largest circle from the Stitched Circles die set.

3- Using the Earth and Sky stencil, Distress Ink and a foam applicator, create a cloud background directly onto the card front.

4- Using the Reindeer die set, cut two of the snow drift pieces from 80lb White Soft Finish Cardstock.

5- Adhere the snow drifts to the card front with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape so that they will show through the round window opening in the decorative paper once it is added.

6- Adhere the decorative paper to the card front with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

7- Cover a piece of 80 lb White Soft Finish Cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive. Using the snowball and scarf dies from the Build a Snowman die set, cut the four pieces with the adhesive side up. Cut the hat piece from a small piece of black cardstock covered in adhesive, adhesive side up.

8- Die cut the nose, eyes, buttons and arms from the same piece of covered cardstock, but with the adhesive side down. Colour with Copic markers. (see the photos)

9- Remove the protective backing from the adhesive on the larger snowman pieces and cover in Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish the glitter into the adhesive using your fingertip to get the maximum sparkle. (Els has great videos showing this technique). For the hat, use the charcoal pollen for texture. Colour the scarf with Copic markers.

10- Assemble the snowman and set aside.

11- Die cut the Garden Notes – Evergreen Wreath three times from green cardstock. Shade with Distress Ink and shape on the leaf pad.

12- Adhere to card front with small dabs of Kids Choice Glue, offsetting each wreath slightly.

13- Die cut the leaves from the Garden Notes – Whitepine Boughs and Pinecone die set two times each from green cardstock; shade and shape.

14- Die cut Pinecone pieces four times each from brown cardstock. For each pinecone, use the ball stylus to shape the bases and adhere one over the other for added durability. Shape the small pieces using the small loop tool and adhere to bases as shown in the photo. Adhere to card front.

15- Die cut three leaves and one plate of berries using the Garden Notes – Holiday Holly & Berry set from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Colour with Copic markers. Shape leaves with the leaf tool on the leaf mat. Highlight the center vein with yellow green PanPastel. Shape berries with the medium ball stylus. Adhere all to the card front.
