Suzanne Cannon’s new clear stamp sets at Elizabeth Craft Designs are filled with wonderful quotes, small motifs, and flourishes. Like her dies, they begin with pen and ink – calligraphy that is unique to her hand and eye. She truly has a way with words and that’s why it’s the name of her collection (“A Way With Words”).
I thought it would be fun to frame the Rumi quote, “You were born with greatness,” with a mix of solid color cardstock, embossed Shimmer Sheetz, and Through the Lens Metal series cardstock. The cards span multiple palettes: soft pastels, bright turquoise, rich purple and brown, and masculine shades of silver, gray and rust. As always, I worked in my preferred By the Batch method – eight cards, each of them one-of-a-kind within the series.
To accent each card, I die cut butterflies, dragonflies and a feather from Shimmer Sheetz or cardstock. These small embellishments are held in place with a tiny snippet of a Tombow Xtreme Tab.
Except for the dimensional accents, everything else is simple layered rectangles adhered with ECD’s Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape or foam tape.
No ste-by-step instructions today, just a photo gallery to inspire you, and supply lists to get things rolling.
If you are new to die cutting Shimmer Sheetz, please review Els van de Burgt’s YouTube TUTORIAL. (***A metal adaptor plate or Big Shot machine with Precision Base Plate is required.)

Love the saying, the feathers, the backgrounds.
Just for. Love these sentiments and those butterflies.
Beautiful cards! Which embossing folders did you use? I especially like the “blue/turquoise” “fish scale” background with “lavender” butterfly!
It’s a mix of Elizabeth Craft Designs, Sizzix and Anna Griffin folders. Not sure if that’s a current one, but I can look into it.
Beautiful cards! Which embossing folder did you use on “Blue/Turquoise” card with “Lavender” Butterfly? It looks like “fish scales” or decorative scallop cover plate…
Wow!! So beautiful!
Thank you, Elliott! Your comment has started my day off on a happy note.
