Hello My Crafty Friends!
Today is my turn to share a post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog. My card today is a sympathy card that I designed using some of Susan’s new Garden Notes dies. I have used Garden Notes – Rhododendron, Garden Notes – Baby’s Breath, and Garden Notes – Frame Its/Stitched Circles along with a few others.
Let’s get to it – here is how it was created.
Step 1 Create 6″ X 6″ card base.
Step 2 Cut White Soft Finish Cardstock to 5-3/4″ square. Using third largest Garden Notes Frame It/Stitched Circle die cut circle in center.
Step 3 Cut another White Soft Finish Cardstock 5-3/4″ square. This time using next to the largest Garden Notes Frame It/Stitched Circle die cut circle in center. Set aside the frame for another project take the circle and create background. On a craft mat rub Distress Oxide ink pads onto mat in colors of your choice ( Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint and Spiced Marmalade used here) spritz with water then tap circle into inks dry with heat gun repeat until you have look you want. Add Kids Choice Glue on very outer edge then place your Frame created above (one with smaller circle cut in it) on top of circle. Attach to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.
Step 4 Cut patterned paper 5-3/4″ square. Using next to largest Garden Notes Frame It/Stitched Circle die cut circle in center. Adhere to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.
Step 5 Die cut Garden Notes Maiden Hair Ferns from green cardstock. Shade & shape then attach to card front using Kids Choice Glue.
Step 6 From White Soft Finish Cardstock cut flowers 6 times using Garden Notes Baby’s Breath Die Set cut stem from green cardstock twice. Add shading to 1 stem and adhere them together using Kids Choice Glue. On each flower put a tiny green dot in center using a very fine pen. Cup each flower by pushing in center with small ball tool. Build your Baby’s Breath using Kids Choice Glue. Attach to card front using Kids Choice Glue arranging over ferns so ferns will still show.
Step 7 Die cut, color and shape 1 Rhododendron using Garden Notes Rhododendron Die Set. You can cut from white cardstock and color as I have here or you can certainly cut from colored cardstock. I did cut stamens and leaves from colored cardstock. Flowers were colored with Copic markers Ro5 and YR00. Susan has a great video on how to do the Baby’s Breath and the Rhododendron on her Facebook page Susan’s Garden Club which you can find here. Build right on your card.
Step 8 From black cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back die cut With Sympathy twice using Words 4 – Remember die set or any other sentiment that you would like as card could be used for any occasion. Stack together giving it more dimension. Adhere to card front.
I hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial today and will make a card of your own – remember it would work for any occasion and can be done in many different colors.
