Quick Birthday Cards

August 9, 2016

Hello everyone, Sanna here again. Who does not know the situation, when you suddenly need a nice birthday card, but have nothing ready? And you really don’t want to buy one from the store, as you can create ones yourself. How about bold cardstock strips on a white background? This is what I came up with when I needed to create two birthday cards really quickly:

This is how the cards came together:

Sanna Lippert - die cut CS strip background

Step 1: Pick a total of 12 Soft Finish Cardstock colors and cut paper strips in size of 1,5 x 17 cm out of them. I chose to use different colors for every single die cut strip, but you could also use only a color or two for a different look. Now adhere Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the back of all cardstock pieces before die cutting them. This will make adhering them on the card base much easier. Take the Bead Strings 1 die set and use the two straight dies to die cut 12 strips of cardstock. Keep both the positive and the negative pieces for the cards.

Step 2: Cut two Happy Birthday sentiments from black Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step 3: Adhere the paper strips onto at white card base and align the pieces next to each other, but in various lengths. This makes the background more interesting for the eye. Cut the residual pieces off. You can use them on a future project like an ATC card or a gift tag. This way nothing goes to waste.Sanna Lippert - die cut CS strip background

Step 4: Adhere the Happy Birthday sentiment on top of the card. Decorate the surface with embellishments like puffy hearts, black texture spray splatters, and golden half-pearls.

Step 5: Now take a second white card base and adhere the negative die cut pieces. Align them next to each other starting from the top of the card and vary the length of the strips for more interest. Finally adhere the Happy Birthday sentiment across the bottom and decorate with puffy hearts, half-pearls, and black texture spray. This is what the finished cards look like:

These cards are so much fun to make and very fast and easy to create. Just imagine the variations you could create by changing the card base colors, maybe adding a few Silk Microfine Glitter strips in between or just doing a monochromatic card!! I think I need to try that next. Thanks for stopping by – hope you enjoyed this fast and easy card idea!

Happy crafting,
Sanna
