Poinsettia Ornament

December 16, 2018

Good Morning everyone! Angela here. It’s that time of year when in and around everything else I usually realize that I need a quick gift for a teacher or a last-minute hostess gift. Hopefully today’s project will help you out if you find yourself in the same situation. With a craft store clear ornament and some sparkly snow, as well as Susan’s dies, I created an ornament that would look lovely on any tree.  I used Nuvo Diamond Sheen Confetti inside the globe, but any snow-like material will do just fine.

 Here’s how it was made:

1-  Die cut 4 of the Berry Spray from brown cardstock. Glue together 2 pairs to create slightly thicker branches. Use Nuvo Crystal Drops to create the berries. Set aside to dry.

2-  Die cut three pairs of branches from green cardstock using the White Pine Pinecone and Bough die set. Edge with a darker Copic marker. Shape with leaf tool on the leaf mat.

3- Remove cap from ornament and partially fill with a couple of teaspoons of snow. Replace cap.

4- Once the Berry Sprays are completely dry, glue to front of ornament with glue formulated for holding porous surfaces (paper) to non-porous surfaces (glass or plastic), for example: Beacon GemTac.

5- Add the green branches. Let dry.

6- Die cut 3 large pieces of the Small Poinsettia and 2 each of the smaller leaves from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Colour 2 of the large pieces green and the rest in a pale pink with Copic markers. Use Yellow Green PanPastel to highlight stem line. Shape on leaf pad and molding pad.

7- Assemble directly onto the ornament. Cut apart the second green piece and glue on separately to fill in the leaves. Use Beacon Kids Choice Glue.

8- Fill in the middle with green Prills.

9- Add a pretty red ribbon and you’re all done!

Wishing you all the very best of this Festive Season.

Angela

Hi Ruth, glad you like it.
The branches were cut from brown and green cardstock. The green leaves of the poinsettia are YG67 and the lake pink are E00 and E02.

    Hi Ruth! Thank you.
The branches were cut from brown and green cardstock. The poinsettia was YG67 for the green leaves and both E00 and E02 for the pale pink leaves. Hope that helps.
