Mass Producing Thank You Cards

December 29, 2018

Now that the presents are all opened (but decorations are still up!) we need to get out our thank you cards before we move on too far! Today I’m sharing how I mass produce thank you cards that are all a bit different but more quickly made than one design.

First of 3 thank you cards from one background

Step 1 – Start with a sheet of 5 x 7 Yupo paper and alcohol inks. Any colors will do but today I am using the blue, green and silver metallics. Swipe some on and let dry – I love how quickly it dries!

Alcohol inks make the easiest and quickest backgrounds

Step 2 – After the ink has dried, cut the sheet to make 3 strips of 2 1/4″ wide by 3″. Mat the panels on white cardstock so there is a 1/16 edging.

Step 3 – Die cut as many “Thank you” dies as you need. I did 3 in white and 3 in shades of blue from scraps for my shadow effect. This is a great way to use up any scraps you have. The time saver is die cutting different dies for your design element piece. Personally, I find it very boring to run the same die over and over again but I can run several different dies the same time through one run. This saves me time and everyone gets a slightly different thank you card.

Step 4 – Fold over a neutral colored cardstock – my go to color right now is gray – and do your different layouts. (Tip: Neutral cardstocks means less time finding the perfect match to your different choice of ink colors.) You can see from my 3 samples that you can change from portrait or landscape. Trim off any excess background of the landscape layouts.

Last of my 3 samples – I think I will try a red and gold background next for this die.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that there are many thank you cards to write. *big smile* Happy New Year!
