A Way With Words

Masculine Birthday Card

January 10, 2019

Hi all, Angela here with a guest blog.

Today’s card is a birthday card for a dear friend. I’ve always found making a man’s birthday card much more difficult that making one for a woman. This is especially so when I’d like to use flower dies. So this month’s project is one that I hope he’ll like; I know that I enjoyed putting it together. Susan’s “Garden Notes – Feverfew” combined with Suzanne Cannon’s “A Way With Words – Happy Birthday” are the dies I used to create this card.

Here’s how it comes together:

1 -Cut a card base 6 ½ X 9 ½ inches folded in half from 100lb Soft Finish card stock.

2 -Cut a pretty piece of paper 5 ½ X 3 ¾ inches as well as a coordinating piece of paper 5 5/8 X 3 7/8 and also a piece of matching metallic paper 6 X 4 ¼ inches. Layer them and adhere with double sided adhesive.

3 – Cut 2 copies of the Happy Birthday die from coordinating papers that have been backed with Double Sided Adhesive. Adhere to the layered card front

4 –Using the Garden Notes Feverfew die, cut the pieces for seven flowers.

5 –Colour leaves and centers using Copic markers.

6 –Shape leaves, petals, and centers using Susan’s toolkit, leaf mat, and molding pad

7 –Adhere flowers to card front using Kid’s Choice glue.

8 –Using a toothpick, dab glue onto the centers and sprinkle with yellow pollen. Allow to dry and blow off excess.

And there you have it!

Hope you get to try this one.

This is such a nice card – for men or women. I don’t understand the whole masculine/feline thing for non-specific cards that so many card makers focus on. (By that I mean a card that doesn’t have stamps/die-cuts related to a specific interest – and even then a woman may like fishing or sports as much as a man, right? : ) )

If you posted that this was for a female friend who loved flowers and greenery I’d think, yeah, absolutely – it’s lovely!

Ha, autocorrect! That would be masculine/feminine!
