Little Winter Pillow Boxes Filled with Hot Chocolate Fixings!

December 7, 2018

Hi,  It’s Kelly Booth here today with a heart-warming treat idea for friends, or in my case for my grandchildren. It’s such a fun time of year leading up to the holidays. I try and make special things to enjoy with the grandchildren when I see them.

Step 1 – Cut three Pillow Boxes with Handle from three pieces of Sky Blue Soft Finish Cardstock (each one requires a 6″ x 12″ piece).  Position the smallest oval die from the Garden Notes Frame It Stitched Ovals set in the center of the notched side, secure with removable tape and run through the die cutting machine to create a window opening.

Step 2 – Cut a piece of acetate large enough to extend past the oval about a quarter of an inch, but without overlapping the scored lines. Use small dabs of Kids Choice Glue to adhere the acetate behind the window. When dry, gently fold the pillow box along the score lines to shape it, then adhere the handles together (but leave the sides open till you’re ready to fill the box).

Step 3 – Cut a label for each box using the die from Labels 1 set. Stamp “I melt for you” so it is just below center, leaving more room toward the top. Punch a hole for the twine. Then die cut the round eyelet from the same Labels 1 die set from red cardstock. Glue around the hole. Add a touch of red ink around the edges of the label.

Step 4 – Put red and white baker’s twine through the tag and tie around the handle of the Pillow Box, securing with a bow.

Step 5 – To fill the box as shown, put enough cocoa mix for an 8oz cup into a small clear treat bag; put a few marshmallows into another, and some crushed peppermint candy or a small candy cane in another. Place these in the box and close the flaps, making sure that the notched side is closed last to ensure ease of opening.

Step 6 – Stamp, cut, and color some Marshmallow snowmen using stamps from the Marshmallow Snowman set. Adhere to the box with foam tape, overlapping the window as shown.

I hope you have enjoyed the tutorial!  It’s such a busy time of year for most of us, and we appreciate you stopping by the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog today!!  Kelly
