Hot Chocolate Season

October 18, 2018

Hey Friends.  It’s EK, and I am sneaking in today to share a little card project that is hoping for some cooler weather and warmer drinks.  It might be October, but here it is still hot, hot, hot, and I am so ready for sweaters and hot chocolate.  And while there is not a break in the weather in the forecast, Krista’s new stamp collection perfectly evokes what I want it to be like outside.

Step One:  Stamp the squirrel from the new Winter Animals stamp set onto watercolor paper using waterproof black ink.  (see supply list)

Step Two:  Color the image with watercolor markers.

Step Three:  Die cut the squirrel with the matching die from the Winter Animals die set.

Step Four:  Using VersaMark ink, stamp the multi-snowflake background from the Snowflakes stamp set onto watercolor paper.

Step Five:  Coat the watermark ink with clear embossing powder and heat set.

Step Six:  Using Distress Oxide ink in Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans, blend ink into the watercolor paper over the embossed images. Using a paper towel or rag, rub excess ink off the embossed images, then spray with a light water mist and blot off excess.  (Embossed areas will resist the inks and the water.)

Step Seven:  Trim a piece of Soft Sky Soft Finish Cardstock to 12×6 inches.  Score and fold the paper at 6 inches to create a 6″ x 6″ card base.  Adhere the watercolor paper to the card frame using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step Eight:  Trim a piece of 85lb White Soft Finish Cardstock to 1″ x 2.5″; using Cornflower Blue ink, stamp the sentiment from the Cute Winter Sentiments stamp set.  Adhere the sentiment block to the card front using foam tape to add dimension.

Step Nine:  Adhere the squirrel using foam tape.

Thanks for popping in today to check out my bit of a winter wish.  Here’s hoping that Hot Chocolate Season is just around the corner!
