Holiday Sweaters

October 31, 2018

Hi and Happy Halloween to Everyone!  It’s Karen here.  There are some amazing NEW holiday stamps and coordinating dies in the Elizabeth Craft Designs store designed by Krista!  So cute.  I decided to pull out one of my favorite dies, the Winter Sweater from Joset Designs, and dress it up with the new stamps.

Here are the steps to replicate the cards:

Step 1. From 85lb White Soft Finish Cardstock, cut a rectangle measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″; score at 5.5″ and fold in half to create a top-fold card base.

Step 2. Use a die from the Dashing Rectangles set to cut a panel for the card front from the Christmas Holidays 6×6 paper collection.

Step 3. Choose a second paper from the same collection and die cut one of the Stitched Hexagons to go behind the sweater.

Step 4.  For the green sweater, stamp the bear image from the Winter Animals Clear Stamp set on a piece of white cardstock using black permanent ink.  Die cut the Winter Sweater around this image.  The Winter Sweater die has a viewing window in the middle so one can center the image. For the pink sweater, stamp the moon and stars from the Reindeer Clear Stamps. Die cut with the Winter Sweater die.

Step 5.  Die cut the sweater again, this time from patterned paper that coordinates with the marker colors that will be used in Step 6.. Fussy cut the ribbing pieces for the sleeves, bottom of the sweater and collar/neckline. The photo below shows the scored (de-bossed) lines that make the cutting easy.

Step 6.  Color the sweater using Copic markers.  For the green sweater as shown:  E41, E42, E25, E27, G40, G43, G46, Y21, Y23, Y26.  For the pink sweater as shown: R20, R22, R27, Y23, Y26.

Step 7.  Glue the ribbing pieces to each sweater.

Step 8.  Layer and adhere, a doily, the hexagon and sweater to the patterned paper rectangle.

Step 9.  Stamp a sentiment from the Classic Christmas Sentiments stamp set onto a circle cut with a Fitted Circle Die.

Step 10.  Adhere the finished panel to the card base.

Here’s a closer view of the pink version.
