It’s Sandy Diller here with you to share a fun little project and greeting for a special friend. The best thing about this card is that once it’s opened, it will stand up on its own for display.
There are lots of details to share so let’s get started!
The size of the finished card is 5″ X 7.5″ X .5″ thick.
Step 1: Cut cardstock for cover 10.5″ X 7.5″. With the 10.5″ side of the cardstock at the top of scoreboard, score at 5″ and 5.5″. Crease on score lines.
Step 2: Using the Happy Frames die, cut 4 pieces for inside frame. Cut two sections to 7″ and two sections to 4.5″ being sure to cut on the straight edge leaving the mitered ends for assembly.
Step 3: Assemble as shown above. If you need a little extra help with this you can see an assembly video here.
Step 4: For the card front stamp the Birds & Branches Background Stamp and then color. Copic Markers were used here but any markers will work. (Be sure the ink is compatible with the markers.)
Step 5: Using the Stitched Rectangles die set, cut the stamped panel using the second largest die in the set.
Step 6: Using the Stitched Rectangles die set, cut a coordinating panel using the largest die in the set. (Shown: Pink cardstock)
Step 7: Using the Dotted Scalloped Rectangles die set, cut a coordinating panel using the largest die in the set. (Shown: Blue cardstock.)
Step 8: Layer and adhere the rectangles.
Step 9: Place card cover panel on flat surface and add a 24″ length of ribbon in the center. Add adhesive to hold ribbon in place only where front panel will cover the cut ends.
Step 10: Add layered panels to front of card as shown above.
Step 11: On inside of card, layer three decorative panels as shown above. Panel measurements are 7.25″ X 4.75″ (pink), 7″ X 4.5″ (blue), and 6.75″ X 4.25″ (patterned paper).
Step 12: Using the Color My Flowers stamp set, stamp several flowers and leaves for the inside and front of card. Color as desired, die cut with the coordinating Color My Flowers die set.
Step 13: Add coordinating paper to back of frame.
Step 14: Using the Berry Spray die set, cut some branches. Optional (shown): Add Clear Nuvo Drops to the berries. Allow to dry.
Step 15: Using the Scissor Spring Mechanism die, cut a small mechanism for the back of the large flower and leaves.
Step 16: Use double-sided foam tape behind some of the other flowers to create dimension with varying heights. Arrange as shown with large flower and leaves overlapping the frame.
Step 17: Using the Sentiments 2 – Just Because die set, cut words for card front and inside panel. For extra dimension add a layer of craft foam or several layers of cardstock (stacked to desired thickness).
Step 18: Using the Sentiments 2 -Just Because stamp set, stamp words on the die cuts. Option: Reverse steps 17 and 18 – Stamp first, then die cut and add dimension (some people find this method easier).
Step 19: Using the Stitched Fishtail Banners, cut two layers that are large enough to hold the greeting.
Step 20: Finish inside and front of card by adding words and flowers as shown above.
So there you have it. A lot of steps but well worth the effort.
See you next time!
