Happy Birthday!

July 27, 2018

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Happy Birthday Card. My inspiration came from Susan’s Garden Notes Black Eyed Susan and Frame It Stitched Square die sets. Once I had those elements of my card figured out, I added a few elements cut with  dies from Els van de Burgt Studi0 and Joset Designs to finish it off. I hope that you enjoy my tutorial!

1. Die cut both size petals from the Black Eyed Susan Die set three times out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink over each flower. Note: In the steps that follow, use a blending tool with foam for all color blending.

2. Die cut the stems from the Black Eyed Susan Die set three times out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Blend Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint Distress Ink over each stem.

3. Die cut both sets of leaves from the Black Eyed Susan Die set  three times out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Blend Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint Distress Ink over each leaf.

4. Get a small piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. blend Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface.

5. Die cut the centers of the Black Eyed Susan Die three times out of the piece of cardstock from Step 4.

6. Using the Leaf Tool and Leaf Molding Pad, shape the leaves and stems.

7. Use the Flower Shaping Tool to shape all of the petals.

8. Adhere two petals together to create three Black Eyed Susan blooms. Adhere the stem and a pair of leaves to each flower. Adhere the centers to each flower.

9. Die cut Happy Birthday out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Blend Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink over each word.

10. Cut two pieces of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measure 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″. Die cut the 3″ Frame It/Stitched Squares from the middle of one of the pieces.

11. Die cut a 4 3/4″ Stitched Square out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

12. Use foam squares and glue to adhere each Black Eyed Susan to the middle of the 4 1/4″ piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

13. Adhere the 4 1/4″ piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock with the middle cut out over the 4 1/4″ piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Use foam squares to hold the frame in place. Adhere the Happy Birthday sentiment to the bottom portion of the frame.

14. Cut a card base out of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 4 3/4″ x 9 1/2″, score at 4 3/4″ and fold in half. Adhere the card front to the card base.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Happy Birthday Card!
