Happy 18th

February 12, 2018

Hello Everyone!

Today’s card was designed for our dear granddaughter’s 18th Birthday.  It is so hard to believe that our first grandchild has turned 18! Where have those years gone?  I wanted to showcase a few of her baby pictures and what better way than to use Susan’s Garden Notes Square Window as a frame.  Also from Susan’s Garden Notes, I have used the newly released Cornflower Bachelor Button.

Here is how the card was created.

Step 1 – Form 6″ X 6″ card base from white cardstock.

Step 2 –  Using Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere 5-3/4″ X 5-3/4″ patterned paper to card front.  (ModaScrap Thinking About – Polinesia used here.)

Step 3 – Using White Soft Finish Cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back cut 2 Garden Notes Square Window – adhere 1 window on top of the other to give it dimension.

Step 4 – Select 4 pictures and trim to fit the window openings (each photo needs to be just a bit larger than the window). Adhere photos with Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  Attach window to upper left corner of the card base.

Step 5 – From White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the back, die cut 2 of each letter to spell out the word ‘happy’ as well as the lower case ‘t’ and ‘h’  using Els van de Burgt Alphabet 2.  Die cut the numbers 1 and 8 twice each using Numbers & More 2.  Adhere 1 set of numbers and letters on top of the other.  Shade each one using Copics V09 & B26.  Adhere under frame using Kids Choice Glue.

Step 6 – Cut 3 Garden Notes Cornflower Bachelor Buttons from White Soft Finish Cardstock.  Color 1 red, 1 blue and leave one white. Color the center for the white flower with yellow, the center for the blue flower with dark blue and black, the center of the red flower with bright red.  Shape and assemble using Kids Choice Glue.  Susan has some great how to  videos on her Facebook page – Susan’s Garden Club  January 17th found here.  Cut leaves from green cardstock or from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Color with Copics; shade with PanPastels Set 1. Shape the leaves.

Step 7 – From green cardstock cut Garden Notes Ostrich Fern (two dies in the set, cut one of each). Shade with Distress In; pinch up fronds to give shape.

Step 8 – Attach ferns, flowers and leaves to card front to the right of the frame using Kids Choice Glue.

I do hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial and it has inspired you to create your own card.  You can purchase the Elizabeth Craft Designs supplies by clicking on any of the pictures in the supply list. The links will take you right to the shopping cart at the web site.
