Flying High

February 23, 2018

Hello Papercrafters. I hope you are well. Marilyn here, and today I want to share a card I made featuring the beautiful Flying High die set. Below are the steps used to create it.

Step 1 – Cut the following:
Card base – 6” x 6” pewter card base
Watercolor paper – 5.75” x 5.75”
White Soft Finish Cardstock – 5.75” x 5.75”

Step 2: Mist the watercolor paper lightly and randomly sprinkle with Bister powder. Mist again and smudge with finger; dab off excess with a paper towel. Repeat until desired effect is achieved.

Step 3: Centre the inner decorative die from the Flying High die set on the 5.75” x 5.75” White Soft Finish Cardstock and run it through the cutting machine.

Step 4: Color the plane with Copic markers T5, T3, T1.

Step 5: Apply glue to clouds (a glue pen used here because the clouds are intricate), sprinkle Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter, shake off the excess and return it to the jar. When the glue is dry, polish glitter on the card by rubbing with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.

Step 6: Mask the die cut area with a circle cut from a piece of scrap paper using the outer circle from the die set.

Step 7: Mist the area around the circle with water and lightly sprinkle Bister powder. Mist again and smudge Bister with finger. Dab off excess with paper towel. Repeat until desired effect is achieved. Tip: Keep the Bister color much lighter than the area with the plane! Remove the circle mask. See finished effect in the photo below.

Step 8: Using 10 mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape for the outer areas and a glue pen for the intricate areas of the die cut piece, adhere the Soft Finish Cardstock square to the watercolor paper. Adhere to the Pewter Soft FInish Cardstock card base.

Step 9: Using the Believe sentiment  from the Words 4 – Remember die set, cut one from the Pewter Soft Finish Cardstock and one from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply glue and adhere to card front, slightly offset to create a drop shadow effect.  Add the enamel dots and DONE!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
