Flying High Thank You Card

June 13, 2018

Good morning!

Our youngest son is just finishing his co-op at our local metal recycling yard through his high school.  I made this card to thank the owner and staff for being such great hosts!

To create this card:

Step 1 – Create a card base for a square card measuring 5 1/4 x 5 1/4.

Step 2 – Using the Dashing Square die that measures 5 1/4 x 5 1/4, cut a piece of patterned paper and then ink and distress the edges.

Step 3  – Cut a piece of coordinating paper at 1 x 5 1/4, then ink and distress the edges.

Step 4 – Adhere Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the front side of White Soft Finish Cardstock, die cut the ‘Flying High’ die.

Step 5 – Using a sharp craft knife trim the protective backing of the adhesive around the clouds so the plane of the die cut still has the protective backing still on and remove protective sheet to expose the adhesive on the clouds.

Step 6 – Pour the Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter over the clouds, brush off excess and return to jar. Polish the glitter into the adhesive using your fingertip to get maximum sparkle.

Step 7 – Remove the protecting sheet off of the plane and cover with Sand Dunes Silk Microfine Glitter, return excess glitter to jar and polish the glitter as in step 6.

Step 8 – Using the 4 1/2 circle from the Stitched Circles die set – die cut one patterned paper circle.

Step 9 – Die cut the ‘Flying High’ die out of brown cardstock. Using a craft knife or fine point scissors, remove the center of the die cut, leaving only the circle (frame).

Step 10 – Die cut the word ‘Thanks’ from the ‘Words 2 – Thinking of You’ die set.

Step 11 – Adhere the die cut square and small piece created in steps 2 & 3 to the card base.

Step 12 – Using Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape adhere the glittered Flying High die cut to the die cut circle.  Adhere the brown frame.

Step 13 – Adhere the die cut assembly to the card base.

Step 14 – Add the word ‘thanks’ to the card, positioned up in the clouds and slightly overlapping the frame.

For the inside the card, cut and ink the edges of some squares and rectangles (die cut or cut with a paper trimmer), add the message, and die cut the ‘Flying High’ die once more, this time out of coordinating patterned paper. Carefully trim the airplane from the rest of the die cut paper, ink the edges and adhere at the bottom right corner.

Thanks for stopping by!
