Father’s Day Gift Idea

May 18, 2019

Hello, it’s Sandy here today!

We all know how difficult it can be to come up with a gift or card for the men in our lives, so I’m here to share an idea using my dies and stamps from the Planner Essentials. I love my ECD Planner but wanted to show you another way to use the great elements from this collection.

This fun photo holder can act as a card by folding it up to mail, or as a photo frame to display all of Dad’s favorite photos. It is perfect for his desk because it’s double-sided. I’ve added some small tags to each section so a personal message or information could be added.

This is a fun project –– so let’s get started making it.

I knew that I wanted 5 panels so the first thing to do is cut 10 large tags, 10 small tags and 10 Photo Frames. I have linked all the products below so you can easily find the sets I used. Also needed is 10 black strips of black cardstock to go on the frames behind the word “photo”. 1″ is the perfect height.

The Manly Man Paper Collection from ModaScrap was used for this project.

Assembly of the tags is pretty fast and easy. The black strip was added to the back and then the larger tag was added directly above that. The sizing on these are perfect.

With that completed, the small tags were stamped and decorated using the dies and stamps in the collection. For the final touch I edged all the tags with some brown ink. I then set everything aside to work on the stand.

To make the stand, two sheets of 120# black cardstock were used. The tags are about 3″ wide so the panels measure 3.25″ X 5.5″. I simply scored and folded the cardstock every 3.25″ and left a connecting tab on one end of the first section. When the two panels were connected a tag was positioned on the panel and a pencil line was added where a cut line should be. A few quick snips with the scissors and its ready to go.

Double-sided foam tape was added to each panel so it would stand out from the base. After adding the small tags with a black brad, I laid the panels out for placement.

A couple little trinkets were added from the Tim Holtz collection: the key, the stars and the charm (where 2019 was added).

All that is left now is to add my personal messages, information and photos. I’ll use the same photo frame from the die set to cut the photos so they will fit perfectly.

Thanks for joining me today and I hope this has sparked a few ideas.

Until Next Time, Happy Crafting,

S@ndy
