Fall Birthday Card

September 16, 2018

Hi everyone!

Angela here to share a birthday card with a fall theme. I had a lot of fun playing with Distress Oxide ink backgrounds the other day. One of them proved to be just right for this card. I have to admit to being particularly fond of fall colours and especially like a pop of purple, so of course Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s Asters were just what I needed to go with her Chrysanthemums. Some purple berries, and voila! Joset’s Dream stamps provided just the right sentiment.

Here’s how it came together:

Step 1 –  Die cut the Berry Branch three times from 100lb White Soft Finish Cardstock. Colour with Copic markers and use the Nuvo Crystal Drops to create the berries. Set aside to let dry completely.

Step 2 – Create the background by “smooshing” several colours of ink onto a craft sheet. Spritz with water and use watercolour paper to pick up the colour. Repeat till you’re satisfied.

Step 3 – From the dried background, cut the largest oval from the Dotted Scallop Ovals die set. Use Clear Double Sided Adhesive to back a piece of 85lb White Soft Finish Cardstock and cut a frame using the two largest dies from the Dotted Scalloped Ovals die set. Adhere the frame to the background and adhere the whole thing to a 6 inch x 6 inch folded card base.

Step 4 –  Die cut the Ladder Fern three times from green cardstock. Shade leaf tips with green ink and shape with Susan’s tool set. Adhere to card front.

Step 5 – Die cut enough petals and leaves for three Chrysanthemums from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Colour centers using Copic markers and shape using tools and foam shaping pad. Highlight the leaves with bright yellow green PanPastel. Adhere to card front.

Step 6 – Die cut petals and leaves for five Asters from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Colour with Copic markers and shape. Adhere to card front.

Step 7 –  Adhere the Berry Branches to arrangement on front of card.

Step 8 – Stamp sentiment onto White Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut with the Stitched Fishtail Banner die set. Adhere to card front.

And there you have it, a fall birthday card.

Thanks for stopping by,

Angela
