My favorite item to make at Christmas time is anything homemade. The fact that you thought about who the gift is for, then actually spent time creating something special for that individual makes the gift extremely unique and personal. It isn’t the amount spent, it is the time and thoughtfulness you put into that special gift that counts. Handmade cards, scrapbooks, paintings, or life collages are some of my favorite gifts to make.

I know until you see one it is hard to picture. Inside this envelope we place our letter of donation that we made in our siblings names. On Christmas Eve we open them and see who recived a donation in our name. Random acts of kindness, pay it forward!

My favorite Christmas crafts to make are ornaments! Since my kids were born I have made them an ornament with the year on it so that they would have at least 18 ornaments when they live on their own. I have carried this over to my three grandchildren and they love seeing their collection grow each year. I also continue to make my sons an ornament each year. They seem to really like them
When they are ready to spread their wings I make them a personalized storage box to keep them in.
One yearI was really sick and ran out of time to make the ornaments so on Christmas Day the grandchildren looked for their new ornament and couldn’t find them. I almost cried because they were so sad that they didn’t have a new ornament made for them. I told them that I would make them in a few days when I was feeling better and that brought huge smiles to their faces! Now, they are the first thing I make so that this never happens again!

Christmas cards are my favorite project–I’ve been making 100+ cards nearly every Christmas, starting in October, and the one year I didn’t I had so many people say they had been looking forward to my handmade card and were disappointed. I also like to make gift-card holders and boxes/containers for small items. And, of course, a new set of Christmas magnets. My Christmas card for this year will be using Elizabeth Crafts Penguins, which I purchased at the Mesa Scrapbook Expo.

  • Barb Zucco October 17, 2017 at 9:44 am

As a retired teacher, my favorite craft thing to do at Christmas is to work with children. I take my sizzle, Christmas dies, and lots of different colored paper to two third grade classrooms and let them make a card for their parents. Also take some shaving cream and reinkers and let them make their own paper to cut the dies from. It is a fun festive afternoon!!

  • Madeleine Menke October 17, 2017 at 9:43 am

I hang these up like a mobile for Christmas decorations near my windows or mirrors! Upon Seeing Suzanne Cannon’s ornaments hanging, it is another wonderful idea to place them on the Chistmas tree (s). They make wonderful gifts to go along on top of your presents under the tree!

The most frequent thing I make are Christmas cards for special family and friends. Next would be tags for gifts. but my favorite thing to make are 24 specially decorated envelopes, that are decorated with Christmas & winter bling, paper, glitter, etc , each to be opened on a day in December, each filled with a special story or Bible verse to explain the meaning of Christmas. I hang these beautifully decorated envelopes using tiny wooden clothes pins on a string, and each day we open one envelope for the story inside. Ive made these to give to family members and they love to hang them, to get them into the true Christmas spirit!
