Cardmaking Charlene Stamps Inspiration from the Design Team Soft Finish Cardstock

Creative Rainbows

January 16, 2020

We have a lot of grey skies around here as of late, so I wanted to create something that could cheer up someone’s day.  I figured the simplest way to brighten anyone’s day was simply with a rainbow and it seemed sort of amusing to turn a group of mushrooms from the Autumn Surprise stamp into into that very rainbow.

Step One:  Stamp the mushrooms from the Autumn Surprise stamp set onto some Watercolor Paper using water resistant ink.  I stamped in a dark grey ink to have softer edge.

Step Two:  Using watercolor pencils, color in the rainbow across the different mushrooms.

Step Three:  Using a water brush or damp paintbrush moved the watercolor pencils into each other, blending the color.  Let dry.

Step Four:  Fussy cut out the images.

Step Five:  Trim a piece of Soft Finish Cardstock in white to 12×6 inches, score and fold to create a 6×6 card frame.  Stamp the brush mark stamp from the Journaling Elements stamp set into a repetitive pattern across the front of the paper using fading ink.

Step Six:  Color the stamped lines in rainbow order with the same watercolor pencils used to color the mushrooms.

Step Seven:  Using a water brush or wet paint brush and move the color around, letting it be faded in some places and stronger in other.

Step Eight:  Using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, add the mushrooms in rainbow order, letting them overlap.

Step Nine:  Stamp the sentiment from the Journaling Elements stamp set onto the card frame using black ink.

Step Ten:  Add black ink around the edges of the card frame, distressing it.
