Good morning and Happy Valentine’s Day! Kathy Sabarese here, sharing a 6”x 6” card featuring beautiful Orchids.
Orchids are so lovely and could be a thoughtful gift for Valentine’s Day! So, I’ve put them in a setting for a card for a ‘loved‘ one. I’ve used Susan Tierny Cockburn’s Phalaenopsis (Moth Orchid), Garden Fruit Crate, Stitched Circles, Ladybug, Soft Finish Card Stock, Words: ‘Little Words Mean A Lot’, and Kid’s Choice Glue. If you’d like to see how to shape the flowers, you can watch Susan’s video here.
I’ve added some smudges and lines with a gold pen on the background, and Spanish Moss under the leaves in the crate so it shows through the slats. The background inside the circle was done with Ranger’s Oxide Distress Inks stamped on a Teflon mat, a few spritzes of water and then card stock was ‘dragged’ through. Watch the wonderful colors spread!
I shaded the edges of the leaves, then pushed them into a Versamark pad, sprinkled them with fine clear embossing powder, heat dried them.. and voila.. shiny leaves orchids exhibit!
These orchids are honestly very easy to sculpt into real-looking flowers! I thought some words would add to this card and stamped these on a tag.
Don’t forget to add a ladybug to one of the leaves!
