Children´s Birthday Cards

August 12, 2018

Hello everyone, it´s Sanna here again with this month’s guest designer blog post. I created two baby cards for July´s post and had quite a pile of leftover die cut pieces. That gave me the idea to use the bits to create a multi-color die cut background and focal point for a fun children´s birthday card. I’m providing the steps as well as a video that shows the creative process, start to finish!

To create the cards, follow these steps:

Step 1: Save the negative pieces from another project with a die-cut background.
Step 2: Die cut two backgrounds with the Kaleidoscope and Geometric dies from True Blue Soft Finish Cardstock. This creates a nice and colorful background in combination with the leftover pieces.
Step 3: Adhere the background pieces onto a Clear Double Sided Adhesive sheet strip. Be careful not to touch the adhesive area with your fingers so the adhesive remains sticky. (TIP: Use the protective sheet from the adhesive to help hold the piece instead of your fingers – it won’t stick!)

Step 4: Take a pair of tweezers and start adding the negative pieces into their places. This takes a little effort and time, but the results are worthwhile.
Step 5: Die cut two Dotted Scallop Circles from White Soft Finish Cardstock and ink them with Faded Jeans Distress Ink and an ink blending tool.
Step 6: Adhere the leftover circle piece (from the previous project) on top of the Dotted Scallop Circle piece.

Step 7: Stamp two monkeys from the Jungle Cuties clear stamp set with waterproof ink onto white cardstock.
Step 8: Fussy cut the monkeys OR die cut them with the matching Jungle Cuties die and color with a water brush and Distress Inks or other coloring medium of your choice.

Step 9: Stamp a happy birthday sentiment from the General Sentiments clear stamp set onto white cardstock and die cut the sentiment with Stitched Fishtail Banners die.
Step 10: Adhere the sentiment banner and the monkey with paper glue.

Step 11: For a fun detail, add dimensional drops around the Dotted Scallop Circle. (Shown: Nuvo Dros ‘Glow in the Dark.)

Here is the video showing all of the steps.

I hope you get inspired to try out this month’s idea and play a little with your dies and stamps! Have fun creating!

See you again next month,
Sanna
