Blooming Tulips from Susan’s Garden

February 27, 2017

HELLO !!!!

Welcome to the ECD blog. I hope spring is in full bloom in your garden. Flowers are popping up everywhere and winter blues are fading away.

Today I have tulips for you from Susan’s Garden and believe me, they are so beautiful!!! I have an entire dozen of them on my card.

Be sure to check out all of the new flower making dies from Susan’s Garden on the Elizabeth Craft Designs website. Meanwhile, have a look at these marvelous flowers.

1. To make this card, first make the wreath. Using the Entwined Ovals die set, cut the largest wreath from brown cardstock 5 or 6 times and adhere, offset, as shown in the photo below. Tip: Use only a tiny bit of glue to hold the layers together. Beacon Kids Choice is the consistency of toothpaste, easy to apply with a toothpick or the tip of a corsage pin.

2. Make a white cardstock top-fold card base, folded size 7″ x 6″. Adhere a piece of light pink patterned paper, just slightly smaller than the card front. Crush and wrinkle a 3″ x 7″ piece of gray patterned paper, smooth it to re-flatten, and adhere to the pink layer. Score a torn piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock to create ridges and smudge with a bit of Pink Peony ink to highlight the lines. Adhere to the gray panel. Add the twine as shown, wrapping around the card front. Secure with a knot at the back.

3. Using Susan’s Garden Notes Tulips 2, die cut White Soft Finish Cardstock to create a dozen tulips and plenty of leaves. Shade the leaves with Archival inks in Library Green and Leaf Green. Shape the leaves per Susan’s video tutorial.

4. Colour the tulip petals on both sides with Archival inks in Magenta Hue, Plum, and Pink Peony. Shape and assemble the tulips per Susan’s video tutorial..

6. Using Garden Notes Ivy Vine and White Soft Finish Cardstock, die cut, color and shape two vine pieces. Adhere on the wreath as shown in the photo below. Also, adhere all of the tulip leaves. Note: Tulip leaves are overlapped and clustered so they are going counter-clockwise in two groups. The ivy is at the end of each of the leafy clusters.

7. Using ModaScrap Leafy Branch 3, die cut White Soft Finish Cardstock to create enough leaves to decorate the top and bottom of the card front as shown in the photo below. Adhere the leaves so the stems are not visible. Also, adhere all of the tulips.

8. Using black ink and words from the Dream Sentiments set, stamp three sentiments. Fussy cut around the words (straight edge below and curvy above). Tint the edges of the word blocks with pink ink (optional). Accent the corners of the gray rectangle with Prills or chunky glitter (optional).

Here’s another look at the finished card. Note that the word ‘explore’ is upside down. This happy surprise lets you view the card in any direction!
