Bird and Birdhouse cards

September 20, 2016

Hello everyone, Sanna here today sharing a total of five cards created with the newest Joset Designs dies. I really adore some of the new designs as they are very versatile and timeless. I know this is a winter release, but there are lots of dies in this release that work for all seasons and occasions. This is what I created with the dies:

Sanna Lippert - Distress Ink, die cut cards

Step 1: Start by die cutting several sets of the Birdhouse, Birds and Mushrooms from white cardstock. Die cut at least 2-3 sets per die. Next color the pieces with Distress Inks and arrange piles for different cards. This way you can work on several cards at the same time.

Step 2: After inking and glueing all the pieces, adhere them onto the white card bases. For some of the cards additionally use a circle die and mount the inked pieces on those before glueing everything onto the card bases.

For the first card I created the sentiment with my typewriter, inked the die cut pieces with Distress Inks and added some glitter glue for decoration.

The second version of the Birdhouse ended being a regular house without the stand, glued down on a Fitted Circle die cut piece that I inked with Distress Inks to resemble a night sky. I added a piece of old book paper into the heart-shaped window for interest and added some glitter glue for more shine.

For the third card I first stamped snowflakes with VersaMark ink onto the background and then added two tones of blue embossing powder. I first stamped and heat embossed the darker snowflakes and then went on with the lighter ones. I used the Winter Sentiments clear stamp set for this purpose. Next I sprayed the card base with water mist and added droplets of blue spray ink. As the background is wet, the ink randomly spread around the snowflakes and created shades of blue. After that I die cut a Fitted Circle from blue patterned paper and added some white ink splatters and Frosted Crystal embossing powder here and there. Finally, I glued the inked Birds on top, stamped a sentiment from the Winter Sentiments set with black ink, and decorated everything with some enamel dots.

For the fourth card I again used the Birds, but this time I created a wedding-themed card. A piece of lace represents a wedding dress on the bride bird and the groom bird is dressed all in black – inked with black Distress Ink. The birds are adhered on a Fitted Circle die cut piece that is surrounded by a Dotted Scallop Circle piece. Finally, I glued a partly-inked Congrats sentiment onto the bottom and added some metallic liner pen details for decoration.

The final card is a fun one. Where I live, it is tradition to give little lucky charms – these usually are tiny characters like pigs, sweeps, lucky clover or even fly agarics (a kind of mushroom) – to bring good luck for the new year. When I saw the Mushroom die cut die, I knew I wanted to create a good luck card with it! This one, like the first two cards, is simply die cut from white cardstock, then inked and layered on a Fitted Circle piece that I colored with blue spray ink. A sticker sentiment and two inked hearts with some glitter glue on them are all this card needs for additional decoration.

There would still be so many more possibilities to use these dies, but I think this is enough for this particular blog post. I bet you come up with many more ideas on how to use these cuties!!!

Happy creating,
Sanna
