Where Flowers Bloom

August 11, 2018

Alert: Husband brag coming.  🙂

My husband knows I love flowers and he’s very good about buying me orchids – they last a really long time and it lets me have flowers blooming year round… which means there’s hope in our house all the time.  That is a good thing because we need it!  LOL!

Read on to find out how I made this card!

CAS Miss You with Coreopsis Flower

July 14, 2018

Hi!  It’s Diana here today to share with you another clean and simple card I made with the Miss You die by A Way With Words and my latest acquisition of Susan’s Garden dies: the Coreopsis.  I don’t know about you but every flower evokes a different feeling or memory.  Roses make me think of my mom, red roses and white daisies make me think of my husband, and today’s flower, the coreopsis makes me think of my childhood.  When I was 6, I had a birthday party and two of my dear cousins brought me a bouquet of the lance-leaf coreopsis.  They are the very first flowers I received and though I’m pretty sure now that they were wildflowers picked in some field, I love them the same!  Flowers are flowers.

But back to my card, this is another one that I think can be easily modified to suit you and would work with any of the many flower dies Elizabeth Craft Design carries.  The Way With Word dies work beautifully with them.  Read on for the instructions:

Clean and Simple Pet Sympathy Card

June 9, 2018

Sympathy cards are some of the hardest cards for me to make.  And ones for our beloved pets are just as difficult!  I don’t know about you but I struggle with the right level of “fussiness” on a card for such a difficult time.  So as always, when in doubt, I go for clean and simple.  The Paws and Hearts die (it was available as a stencil before) added just the right amount of detail below.  It made me think of how their paw prints make a lasting impression on our hearts.  Read on to find how I made this pet sympathy card.

Quick and Easy Masculine Recycled Keepsake Box

May 12, 2018

Do you know who packages their products really well?  Tech companies.  Imagine the iPhone or iPad box – or any other electronic gadget… it’s usually in a really nice box – complete with that little magnetic flap.  So when my husband asked if I wanted his headphone box, of course I said yes!  I pulled out all my flower dies, thinking I was going to just pile on those 3D flowers for a really cute box and then I ended up with this super quick, clean, easy masculine recycled keepsake box.  Go figure! But it’s perfect because I have little boys who fill their pockets (and the washing machine) with little rocks, game pieces, and whatever else they find – and one can hope they will use something like this.  Read on to see how my plans got all turned around…

Collect Moments with Flowers and Distress Oxide Background

April 7, 2018

Spring is so close I can almost feel it!  And with spring comes the cherry blossoms.  I live in Northern Virginia, quite close to DC where we have the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, but I admit that I have not been there in a while.  I would love to go except I don’t like crowds and my little boys just aren’t that excited to go see flowers in bloom.  Fortunately, there are plenty of cherry blossoms in the suburbs here but one of these days… This momma is going to get a picture of the family under the cherry blossoms again.  I love pictures and that is how I collect moments in our family life. Christmas ornaments from where we go is another way.  How do you collect the special moments in your life?  So as you can see, the cherry blossoms inspire my card today.  Please read on to see how I made it!

Hello!  I’m back with my favorite component on cards – butterflies!  I just think they are the prettiest and most wonderful creatures, and so easy to play with on cards.  They can be any shape, design, colors… so versatile.  I must say though that my favorite butterflies for papercrafting are the more delicate die cuts.  Read on to see how I created this simple but elegant card.

Don’t Be Afraid to Go Bold with Lilies

January 20, 2018

Hi, Diana here! Have you ever seen one of those time lapsed videos of flowers blooming?  It’s quite amazing. This quote from the Where My Flowers Bloom Collection stamp set reminded me of those videos. Flowers open ever-so-slowly, but then they’re in full bloom! And it’s quite beautiful to behold.  I combined this quote with one of my favorite flowers – Stargazer Lilies. They are so vibrant and bold – and a lot taller than you would think!  Read on to find out how I made this card.

Even Watercolor Roses have a Bit of Fragrance

December 23, 2017

Hello, it’s Diana here to share a card with you featuring roses.  It’s snowing outside right now and I need a bit of summer for just a bit, though I do love the snow.  Roses always make me think of summer and my mom  – it’s not as easy to grow roses as one would think but my mom loved them because they were one of the few perennials that would bloom all summer long.  And she was so generous with her plants – so this quote is perfect for the flower lover in your life – especially if they love roses!  Below are the directions to make this card.

Just for You with Silk Microfine Glitter and Distress Oxide Background

November 18, 2017

Hello!  Diana here today to share with you a card that is just fun to make.  One of the best things about card making is how personalized you can get with it if you know your recipient well.  And just in case the color combo, dragonflies, and glitter don’t make the person I have in mind know that this was especially made for her, I added “Just for You” for good measure.  Subtle, right? Read on to find out how I made this soft and dreamy card.
