A Window Card With A Sparkly Ornament

September 19, 2018

Hi it’s Kelly Booth here today with a simple card idea that can be reproduced easily for Christmas! I often use non traditional colors for Christmas as they make me happy!

Step 1 – Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock to 4″1/4″ by 11″ fold in half creating a 4″1/4″ x 5″1/2″ card base.  Cut a piece of the patterned paper found in the ModaScrap Fly and Scrap Patterned Paper collection to 4″1/4″ by 5″1/2″.   Place double sided adhesive on the edges of the back of the patterned paper and adhere to the front of your card base.

Step 2 – Using the 3 inch Fitted Circle position it on the top layer of your card towards the top and run through the die cutting machine cutting a window.  Take a piece of purple card stock 4″ x 5″ and place the 3″1/8″ Dotted Scalloped Circle nested with the previous Fitted Circle taping down so it doesn’t shift and run through your die cutting machine. (see photo’s below)

Step 3 – Take a piece of Yupo Paper and three or four alcohol inks of your choice and pounce down some color using a felt applicator, then using some blending fluid drop a few drop and pounce a little more creating a marbled look. Place Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the back of the alcohol inked background piece. Using the solid ornament front the Winter Ornaments die set,  die cut  two solid ornaments from the alcohol inked background piece. Take a light blue small piece of card stock and place Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the back and cut two identical snowflake ornaments . Peel the backing from the ornaments and place one on each solid marbled ornament.

Step 4 – Use a small scrap of white card stock and place Clear Double Sided Adhesive on top, remove protective backing, cover adhesive with Silver Silk Microfine Glitter rubbing the glitter with your fingers. Die cut two ornament tops from this. Peel the backing from the back of the marbled ornaments and place them back to back creating a double sided ornament. Glue the ornament tops on each side. Thread a piece of silver string through the hole and tie a knot in the middle so you have two threads to glue down at the top.

Step 5 – Take the purple dotted scallop frame you die cut and glue down holding the string at the top to dangle.

Step 6 – Take a scrap of the light blue that matches the ornament and place Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the back. Place the “Season’s Greetings” die onto this piece and run through the die cutting machine. Peel the backing and place this at the bottom of the card centering it.

Step 7 – With the silver thread make a bow and glue at the top of the dangling ornament as shown. Place Silver / Clear Glitter Dots Peel Off Stickers on both sides of the snowflake on the ornament.

Your card is now finished!   I hope you enjoyed the tutorial today and as always thank you for stopping by the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog!
