Peace, Love, and Joy

November 29, 2018

Hey Friends!  It’s EK here to share a bit of holiday fun.  I don’t know about you, but I think these days people take the holidays a little too seriously and we all could inject some fun back into our holidays.  I think we as adults forget sometimes what the magic of Christmas should be, and instead craft and create elegant and fancy holiday decor.  Today I am trying to invent with my child’s mind and create a really fun and magic-filled project.

Step One:  Trim a piece of Soft Sky Soft Finish Cardstock to 12×6 inches, a piece of printed It’s Christmas Time paper to 6×6 inches, a coordinating printed piece of It’s Christmas Time paper to 5×5 inches, a piece of Ladybug Red Soft Finish Cardstock to 5×3 inches and a piece of 85lb White Soft Finish Cardstock to 5×2.5 inches.  Score and fold the 12×6 piece of paper at 6 inches to create a 6×6 card base.

Step Two:   Adhere the printed 6×6 paper to the card base using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  Adhere the 5×5 printed paper to the bottom right corner.

Step Three:  Adhere the white strip of paper to the red strip of paper using 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  Add a bubble of color using both Aged Mahogany and Candied Apple Distress Oxides and a blending tool.  Spray the bubble of color with a bit of water and allow to dry.  Adhere the strips of paper to the left side of the card base.

Step Four:  Stamp the focal image from Elves stamp set onto 85lb White Soft Finish Cardstock using Copic-friendly black ink. (Or ink compatible with your markers or other coloring medium of choice.)

Step Five:  Color the focal image with alcohol makers (shown: Copics), matching the marker colors to the palette in the printed paper.  Die cut the focal image using the coordinating Elves die set.

Step Six:  Adhere the focal image onto the card front, positioned over the bubble of color, using 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step Seven:  Stamp the sentiment onto the card using the Classic Christmas Sentiments stamp set.  Stamp the image first in Candied Apple Distress Ink and then in black ink, offsetting them a little.

Step Eight:  Finally, add some Nuvo Drops in Autumn Red to the card for a touch more whimsy.

Thank you for peeking in today to my little bit of whimsy project.  I want to encourage you to keep the magic in your crafting this season and not to take your projects too seriously.  Remember to craft with your inner child’s mind.
