Clean and Simple Ornament Card

September 5, 2018

Hi there Crafters! Marilyn here to show you a CAS (Clean & Simple) card I made using the Classic Christmas Sentiments stamp set plus Winter Ornaments and Dashing Squares die sets.

Here are the steps I used to create this card:

Step 1: Cut a 5.75” x 11.5” rectangle from white cardstock, score and fold in half at 5.75” to create a 5.75″ square card base. Using the Dashing Squares dies, cut square from white cardstock for the front panel using the largest die.

Die cut one of the solid ornaments and the ornament topper from white cardstock that has been covered with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front prior to cutting. Remove the protective backing from the adhesive and cover the ornament with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish the glitter into the adhesive with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.

Die cut the decorative ornament overlay from white cardstock backed with Clear Double Sided Adhesive prior to cutting.

Step 2: Apply VersaMark ink to the front of the decorative overlay ornament so it is completely covered with ink, sprinkle with Liquid Platinum embossing powder and heat set. Do the same with the brads (repeat process with brads if more coverage is needed). Note: Be careful! Brads get very hot when heat set, so make sure you use tweezers to hold them whilst heat setting and allow to cool before touching.

Step 3: Using the VersaMark Ink and Liquid Platinum embossing powder, stamp and heat emboss the sentiment onto the white cardstock square panel.
Step 4: Using the Frantage embossing powder, lightly sprinkle onto the card front, spreading powder around with your finger to get into the corners making sure to keep it off the embossed sentiment. Hold the card in the air and use the heat from from beneath the panel so the powder doesn’t blow off.  Attach the trio of brads to the card below the Noel sentiment. Refer to photo below for placement.

Step 5: Adhere the decorative ornament overlay onto the glittered solid ornament.  Pull ribbon through the hole at the top of the ornament. Glue ornament and ribbon to front panel, folding top edge of ribbon over the square panel and gluing onto the back.

Step 6: Adhere completed panel to the card front, centered on the square as shown in the project photo.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy crafting and have a great week!
