Summer Daisies

August 19, 2018

Good day everyone, Angela Whelton here as guest designer. As we make our way to the middle of August, hard as that is to believe, I look forward to heading home and seeing my garden there. Among my favourites waiting for me are the beautiful Shasta daisies. They are such a classic summer garden flower. Susan’s Garden Notes Shasta Daisies are a lovely flower to make, and they make me happy. I’ve added Ivy and the Leafy Berry Branch against the Bricks die in the background.

Here’s how it came together:

Step 1 –  Die cut  the Leafy Berry Branch die twice from 85lb Soft Finish cardstock (I use this for everything). Colour using Copic markers. Create berries using Nuvo Crystal Drops. Set aside to dry.

Step 2 –  Create a 6″x6″ card base from 100lb Soft finish cardstock.

Step 3 – Cut a 5.75″ square of blue paper and adhere to card front.

Step 4 – Cover the back of a 6″x4″ piece of Through the Lens paper with Clear Double Sided Adhesive and do the same with a coordinating piece of paper for the “grout”. Cut each piece using the Bricks die.

Step 5 – Position the “grout” piece onto the card front. Remove the backing and adhere. Fill in the bricks from the second die cut (I only decided to add the grout after I’d started; it will be much easier to fill in the frame than to do the bricks first).

Step 6 – Die cut the Ivy die four times from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Colour using Copic markers. Adhere to card front.

Step 7 – Die cut the Shasta Daisy three times from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Colour leaves and centers using Copic markers. Shape using Susan’s tools and referring to Susan’s  video tutorial which you can find here.  Adhere flowers to card front using Kids Choice Glue.

Step 8 – Once the flower centers are in place, dot with Kid’s Choice Glue and dust with yellow pollen. Let dry and blow off excess.

Step 9- Add Leafy Berry Branches.

And you’re done!

Thanks for stopping by,

Angela
