Welcome Baby Die Cut Cards

July 1, 2018

Hello there, it´s Sanna here again with another guest design team post. I have been wanting to use the Jungle Cuties stamp set for a while now and found that the stamps perfectly fit a cute style ‘Welcome Baby’ card theme. So, today´s post is all about cute Welcome Baby cards.

I used the Elephant and Lion stamps to create a card for a baby boy and a baby girl. Here is the second card:

To create these cards, follow these steps:

Step 1:  Wipe 3 shades of pink Distress Ink onto a piece of white cardstock. Do the same on a second piece of white cardstock, using three shades of green Distress Ink.
Step 2: Spray water mist onto a non-stick craft sheet and use the circle stamp from the Jungle Cuties set and stamp circles onto the background with water. Let set for a while and then dab off any excess water with a soft cloth or paper towel.
Step 3: Die cut 1 background piece from Soft Peach Soft Finish Cardstock with the Geometric background die and then die cut a second background from Celadon Green Soft Finish Cardstock using the Kaleidoscope Background die.
Step 4: Adhere the inked backgrounds together with the die cut background pieces (peach on pink and green on green).
Step 5: Take the Fitted Circles dies and die cut a circle from the background piece in the desired spot. Shown: One is centered, the other is toward the lower right.

Step 6: Stamp a lion and elephant image on white card bases, carefully positioned so they will appear in the spot with the circle opening.  Optional: Lightly trace the circle with a pencil onto the card base to make it easier to stamp in the right spot. Erase the circle after stamping.

Step 7: Color the images with Distess Inks in colors of choice, using a water brush to pick up color from the craft sheet or a palette. Optional: Use markers, watercolors, or other coloring medium of choice.
Step 8: Color the background area around the stamped image with diluted Distress Ink; air dry.
Step 9: Adhere the layered background in place using 3D foam tape to add dimension.

Step 10: Stamp sentiments onto white cardstock. Shown:  Ahoy Sentiments and General Sentiments stamp sets.
Step 11: Die cut the stamped images with Stitched Fishtail Banner dies and adhere to the card fronts.

Step 12: Optional: Add more detail with Liquid Pearls/Nuvo Drops. Shown: Glow In the Dark Nuvo Drops!

Below is  a  video showing all of the steps for making these cards.

I hope you enjoy this month’s step-by-step tutorial and give this idea a try. I really liked creating these cards, especially the water stamping,  and coloring the cute animals was so much fun! Hope I could inspire you a bit today.

See you next month,
Sanna
