A Way With Words

Just for You with Silk Microfine Glitter and Distress Oxide Background

November 18, 2017

Hello!  Diana here today to share with you a card that is just fun to make.  One of the best things about card making is how personalized you can get with it if you know your recipient well.  And just in case the color combo, dragonflies, and glitter don’t make the person I have in mind know that this was especially made for her, I added “Just for You” for good measure.  Subtle, right? Read on to find out how I made this soft and dreamy card.

1.  Die cut A Way With Words “Just for you” out of white and teal cardstock.  Adhere together with a slight offset as shown below.

2.  Use a sheet of white cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive  on the front.  Die cut the dragonflies.  Cover the adhesive on the dragonflies using Teal and Amethyst Silk Glitter. Polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.  Please review the video here by Els on how to use die cuts and glitter.

3.  To make the background, smooth Distress Oxide Inks (Broken China, Faded Jeans, Cracked Pistachio, Amber Oxide and Wilted Violet) on a craft mat sheet and lay a sheet of high quality photo paper over it.  This makes for an amazing quick and unique background.  After trimming the background to 4″ x 5.25″ cut it again at the one inch mark.  Pop up the background pieces with foam tape on a teal card base.

5. Adhere the dragonflies and die cut words as shown in the project photo below.  Add some clear dew drops to finish the card.

I hope you like it and thank you for looking!

Beautiful card! It speaks serenity to me. At first I thought it was a ribbon or strip of paper down the left side. Then I read your description. This detail adds more interest to me. Such a lovely card! Love the glittery dragonflies.
