Love & Happiness Wall Hanging

April 21, 2017

Hi Everyone! It’s Katelyn here, sharing a beautiful Love & Happiness Wall Hanging. My starting point for my wall hanging was the Ready to Bloom die and the different die cut images just grew from there. I used a variety of dies from ModaScrap and Els van de Burgt Studio as well as a stamp from Joset Designs to make the wall hanging. Let me show you how to make it.

1. Using the Curvy Leaves die set, cut five 2-leaf pieces, five 3-leaf pieces, and five 5-leaf pieces out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool, blend Peeled Paint Distress Ink over each leaf. Shape the leaves using the leaf tool and leaf pad.

2. Using the Leafy Branch 4 die, cut six leafy branches out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool, blend Forest Moss Distress Ink over each leafy branch. (Note: Only 3 are shown above.)

3. Die cut the small butterfly from the Dancing Butterflies die set out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool, blend Spun Sugar Distress Ink over the butterfly.

4. Die cut one Ready to Bloom piece out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool, blend Antique Linen Distress Ink over the die cut.

5. Using the flowers from the Entwined Ovals die set, die cut five large flowers and five small flowers out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool, blend Spun Sugar Distress Ink over three of the large flowers and two of the small flowers. Using a blending tool, blend Tattered Rose Distress Ink over two of the large flowers and three of the small flowers. Adhere the flowers, making sure that the small Spun Sugar flowers end up on the large Tattered Rose flowers, and the opposite for the rest of the pieces. To finish the centers of the flowers, add a large Transparent Glitter/Gold Dot.

6. From the Happy Flowers die set, use the extra large and large flowers to die cut three extra large flowers and three large flowers out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool, blend Tattered Rose Distress Ink over two of the extra large flowers and one of the large flowers. Using a blending tool, blend Spun Sugar Distress Ink over one of the extra large flowers and two of the large flowers. Adhere the flowers together, making sure that the large Spun Sugar flowers end up on the extra large Tattered Rose flowers, and the opposite for the rest of the pieces. Adhere three of the large/small flower sets to the middle of the Happy Flowers.

7. Using the Stitched Ovals die set, cut the 3″ stitched oval out of patterned paper. Apply Potting Soil Archival Ink to the “Love & Happiness” stamps. Stamp onto the middle of the oval. Distress the edges of the oval with an edge distresser tool. Using a blending tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink, ink the edges of the oval.

8. With two other dies from the Stitched Ovals die set, cut the 3 1/2″ and 4″ ovals out of patterned paper. Distress the edges of both ovals with an edge distresser tool. Use a blending tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink to ink the edges of both ovals.

9. Using the Stitched Fishtail Banners die set, cut the 1 1/2″ and 1 7/8″ wide banners out of patterned paper. Distress the edges of both banners with an edge distresser tool. Use a blending tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink to ink the edges of both banners.

10. Cut one piece of patterned paper that measures 4 5/8″ x 6 3/4″ and a second piece of patterned paper that measures 4 7/8″ x 7″. Distress the edges of both patterned paper pieces with an edge distresser tool. Using a blending tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink, ink the edges of both patterned paper pieces.

11. Adhere the 4 5/8″ x 6 3/4″ piece of patterned paper to the 4 7/8″ x 7″ piece of patterned paper. Adhere the 4 7/8″ x 7″ piece of patterned paper to the 5″ x 7″ canvas.

12. Adhere the 1 1/2″ stitched banner to the 1 7/8″ stitched banner. Adhere the 1 7/8″ stitched banner to the center of the canvas.

13. Adhere the Love & Happiness stamped stitched oval to the 3 1/2″ patterned paper stitched oval. Adhere the 3 1/2″ patterned paper stitched oval  to the 4″ patterned paper stitched oval. Using foam dots for dimension, adhere the 3-layer 4″ patterned paper oval to the middle of the stitched banners.

14. Add foam dots as well as adhesive to the Ready to Bloom die cut and adhere it to the left of the ovals. Refer to the photo below for precise positioning. Adhere three of the leafy branches to the right of the ovals. Overlap the pieces and trim the stems as needed.

15. Adhere one 2-leaf pieces, five 3-leaf pieces and one 5-leaf piece (trim off one leaf) over the leafy branches, making sure that some of the leafy branches remain visible.

16. Adhere the three flower bunches on top of the leaves at the right side of the stitched ovals.

17. Adhere the butterfly toward the top right of the Ready to Bloom die cut. Adhere the other three leafy branches, trimming stems as needed. Make sure the three buds remain visible.

18. Adhere four 2-leaf pieces and four 5-leaf pieces over the leafy branches at the bottom left of the ovals. Adhere the two flower bunches as shown.

19. To finish the wall hanging, adhere a piece of cream color ribbon to the top at the back as a hanging loop. Also adhere a piece of patterned paper measuring 4 5/8″ x 6 3/4″ to the back of the canvas, covering the tails of the ribbon.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of this Love & Happiness Wall Hanging.
