Els van de Burgt Studio Pop it Ups

Pop it Ups Wednesday with Sandy – Mr. & Mrs.

June 15, 2016

Hi my friends and welcome, it’s Sandy Diller here to share a pivot card with you today.  June is a traditional month for weddings, so that’s what I’ve made this time.  Weddings evoke thoughts of love & hearts so I’ve used Karen Burniston’s Heart Pivot Card and Els Van de Burgt’s Dotted Scallop Rectangles along with a few other lovelies from the new release to create this card.

1.  Make two sheets 5″ X 7″ (the size of the stencil) stenciled paper using the Petite Flourish – Stage it Stencil.  Gold embellishment mousse was used here.  I made my stenciled paper a day ahead so it was completely dry when I started my card.

The finished card measures 5.75″ X 4.5″ which is not a standard size but still fits a standard envelope for mailing. The size was determined by the size of the rectangles used.

2.  Cut ECD 100# Soft Finish Cardstock to 5.75″  X  9″ then crease in the center.  Using the Heart Pivot Card Die – place nibs on fold and run through your machine.

3.  Using one of the smaller heart shaped dies in the set, cut two hearts from the stenciled paper.

4.  From the stenciled paper cut two strips that are .75″ wide for side trim. Not shown.

For this card a front panel was cut making it a tri fold card.  It’s a fun way to reveal the pivot section as a surprise when the card is opened.

5.  Cut front panel  5.75″  X  5″.  Crease one side at .5″ and trim the ends as shown above.

6.  Add ECD Clear Double Sided Adhesive to tab.

7.  Add front panel as shown above.  The card will now be a tri fold.

8.  Using three sizes from the Dotted Scallop Rectangle set, cut the smallest one from the stenciled paper and the other two from Soft Finish Cardstock.

9.  Layer the three together as shown above.

10. From gold paper cut one heart and one set of wedding rings using the Wedding Charm Set.  Remove hanging ring from the charm.

11.  From Soft Finish Cardstock cut two smaller hearts, the third one can be embossed using the embossing sandwich for your machine, optional.

12.  Layer as shown above.

13.  Using the Wedding Charms set, cut a bride and groom.  A small piece of gold paper was added to the back of the dress making the design on the dress stand out.  The design on the dress is the same as the Stage it Stencil used earlier.  Add white front piece to groom creating his bow tie.

14.  Layer two pieces together

15.  Stamp the Mr. & Mrs., from the Best Wishes Clear Stamps, on white paper and cut out using the smallest heart from the Heart Pivot set.

16.  Stamp the word Congratulations using the What’s Up Clear Stamp set.  Add to gold paper.

17. Using the Wedding Charms Die set, cut a set of Champaign glasses.  Cut hanging ring off.

18.  Cut  several hearts from gold paper.  A few different sets were used here.

19.  Add decorator pieces to front panel

20.  To add bride and groom to the center of the hearts – cut a piece of paper that measures  1″ X .5″  and mark in the center on both sides.  Marks on tab will be covered.

The same affect can be achieved without the tab but using the tab gives more strength and will not be seen when completed.

21.  Add tab to half of the pivot, do not put tab or glue on fold.

 22.  Add stenciled hearts and trim pieces – leaving half the tab extending the fold as shown above.

23.  Add bride and groom to tab.  Remember to add your glue to the tab so you don’t get unwanted glue on the rest of your card.  The bride and groom will now move with the hearts when the card is opened and closed.

25.  Finish by adding all other decorator pieces.
